The battle raged on for a century

For those of you who care the SC3 tourney today:

Everything started out kind of poorly for me ^^;;. Rick and Steve came over early for a little practice and I wasn't doing that hot. I feel like I'd forgotten everything for some reason X_x. Anyway, we headed out and we stopped by Guitar Center first (I think I'm positive about the Ibanez S series now). After that though - it was off to Crow's.

I did pretty well in friendlies, although I was getting the crap beat out of me by this Arthur player. Fricken, what a stupid character. Anyway, it wasn't too long until the tourney began. There were 13 people there (lucky! x_X) and I got the first match against a guy, Shawn, that I've kinda talked online to for awhile now.

He was playing Zasalamel, a character I didn't get practice in on even in the friendlies x_X. I did really well the first two rounds! Rounds. And then stopped. He beat me, and there was actually a point shortly after that I found myself thinking that I was going to end up losing my next match and that I was going to have to come home and explain to everyone that I suck at SC3 and that it's stupid.

Rick had picked up a few Xianghua tricks from Crow before the tourney started and he put them to good use. He beat the guy there that had been seeded 4th from the last biweekly. Steve lost... to someone. That was Port Huron's first round XD;;.

I was in the loser's bracket which meant there was little room from mistakes from that point on. I was up against the 4th seed that Rick had just beat. My adrenaline kicked in, and as you people might know, I work much better under pressure. I took him out, but I don't remember the match numbers. I think he might've taken one, but then again it might've been a straight set. Oh well! He was a really cool guy though! I went to tell Crow that I won and he asked, "Really?" I told him, "Don't sound surprised about it, douche bag!"

Rick fought Shawn second round, the same guy I lost to, and lost as well. So at that point we had both won and lost against the same people XD;;. Steve lost again... to Brett, I think his name was. Brett, from what I can tell, plays Sophitia and Astaroth. I guess he beat Steve with the latter, but I wasn't around to see it.

It was about this time that everyone stopped what they were doing to watch the match between ShardZ and Crow, which was freaking amazing. Crow barely pulled out a victory in the last round of the last match. It was a good fight to watch.

A bit of time passed and I waited for my next match. I don't remember who Rick fought at this point, but I'm pretty sure he won that match XD;;. Steve was out of the tourney, so he was just rooting. Then Crow called out that the next match was ShardZ and myself. Wonderful!

ShardZ was playing Sophie and I was really freaking scared/nervous. Coincidentally I think that might be the best circumstance for me to work under. I took ShardZ, and I'm pretty sure that it was a straight set. When I told Crow about that one he was surprised again XD;; he asked, "You won?" I told him, "That's the second time, douche bag!"

At this point Rick met his end to the Arthur player I was complaining about earlier. Then Crow informed me that I made it to the loser's bracket semi-finals. It was farther than I expected to make it, for sure, and probably farther than anyone else had expected me to make it either ^^;; so I was really happy to hear it.

There was a match going on between a Cassandra player from Brighton and Shawn. Crow informed me that the victor would be my next opponent x_X I just didn't want to be beaten by Shawn again. Luckily (probably) the Cass player pulled it out and I went on to face him.

This time I'm positive that I took the guy in a straight set. Since it was semis it was best of five. The set was 3-0, but then the guy decided that we should play the next two matches for fun. Probably ended up being a bad idea for me x_X I lost the next two, but that wasn't the problem. I think it took a lot of the pressure off of me, since I knew that they didn't matter.

Next was the loser's finals/semi-finals. I was playing the same guy that Steve lost to the second time - Sophie and Asty player named Brett. He played Sophitia with me and this time I lost in a straight set. I got two rounds on at least one match (it's hard to remember a lot), but I never got a match in. I did, however, get a lot of compliments on my Maxi from players, including BigLittleDave, the guy who won the tourney today.

But for the record - I ended up placing third. This was my first real (non-con) Soul Calibur tourney and I managed to come out of it with extra $$ when I expected to be dead money! I'm really happy with myself and my performance, although I feel like I could've gotten second. I am, however, seeded third for the next tourney, which is a good feeling. I went from being 100% unknown to being a third place seed.

Everyone was really cool there too ^.^ the Cass player I went 3-0 with decided that I have no morals XD;;. He told me I don't play like SC players, and that I completely ignore the rules that the pros follow. I told him that it's because I don't know what they are! He told me that's what makes me a pain to fight. Woo!

The people seemed to dig the PH crew a decent amount. They asked if they can count on us to come to tourneys in the future, and when I told everyone that I was leaving I was propositioned by three people to play a set before I left. All in all it was a really good day ^.^ and even with gas money I only ended up out a dollar thanks to my third place victory!

The next tourney is a month from today and should be attended BY ROB as well as Steve, Rick, and myself. Hopefully I won't have to drive through terrible, crazy, retarded roads on the way home next time. I'll be working hard.
