Today as Gbaby and I scooted around town, running errands and buying necessities, I listened to Neal Boortz. Yes, I am a HUGE fan of his and have been for over a decade (let's blame it on the phone company). He is personally responsible for my current thought patterns on quite a few subjects and encouraging me to think for myself and not be a sheep

I have no soapbox this morning as it's early still and my brain has not yet kicked into eloquent mode...but I'm applauding from over here. I think "No Child Left Behind" could have been a good thing, pushing kids to their best...but instead it panders to the lowest common denominator and Goddess forbid you be smart.

I cry bullshit...I push my kids every day to do better, read more, pay attention. Granted, they're kids and it doesn't always work, but I read the paper and talk about some of it with them. And encourage them to read it, too, besides just the comics.

*sigh*...this country....*shaking head*
