Review on Glee's Episode "The Break Up"

Oct 06, 2012 21:58

Hey readers! Yeah updating again but unfortunately it is not a Yama Baby Update or anything yet as you can tell from the title. I'm somewhat procrastinating on my hw but didn't wanna get sucked in writing the fic and forget everything so I'm doing a short blog entry.

As many if you know I am a big Glee fan because of my non-Japanese fandom, Klaine and unfortunately I had to witness this precious boat sink with my bestie Courtney while we texted each other like crazy throughout the show. Sadly she told me when she feels like she would go through another withdrawal when I had to update her about the fate of Brittanna when she went to take a shower at one point.

But okay I'm getting a little ahead of myself, so let's break it down.

Finchel
Eh I decided to discuss them first since there isn't much for me to comment on them except: Geez! Finally! Even though I thought this couple was already done for in Season Three finale, I am happy for this ship to be wrecked. I was never a fan of them since the beginning of Season One...I found them more of a nuisance than a legit couple. Me and my BFF have agreed this couple should of vanished by first season. Sure there are circumstances where it says the longer it takes for two people to finally be aware that they are meant to be is a blessing, but I'm sorry I don't think this couple meet the requirements. Many of their fights have been childish and trivial. So I sincerely hope that what Rachel said about she can't do this anymore but I wouldn't hold my breath on her saying "...at least not now...I want you as my last". I'm clicking my tongue to say "95% of that does not work out that way especially in your case Honey. Stop giving Finn false hope and move on with your life." Whew that was more than what I intended but yeah like I've said and what you could see, not a big fan and glad for this break up.

Wilemma This couple is one I am also not too concerned about but in a good way. Unlike Finchel this pair have been always the grown ups of the show, so essentially they already know what they want in life and aware of the people that they are. They have come a long way since the beginning. I found their fight to be a mild squabble between them and not much of a defining call for a break up. I am sure this couple will sort out in a positive note.

Brittanna
I swear to God my BFF could make an entire review of this couple with a lot of passion akin to my special review of Klaine :). This couple puts me on the fence surprisingly. I support them almost as much as Klaine and not solely 'cause they are both the same sex couples in the show. Truthfully it was heartbreaking to watch Brittany 2.0 because of Brittany felt like she was abandoned by Santana. In truth on was touched by Santana's declaration of love to Brittany before she decided they need to do the mature thing. It would seem contradictory and stupid to many but it shows how much she really cares about Brittany. I admire Santana to speak honesty of her attraction to another person in college and admitting she is not ready to fully commit into a relationship. Her decision on breaking up was the most mature decision than both Finchel and Klaine since Santana was able to do this without giving into too much temptation to her emotional needs and attraction. I do believe that this couple will resurface again in the later future. Maybe not in a few months but perhaps after Brittany's graduation. Like many young people under 30 they need time to figure out themselves before committing.

Klaine
Well as you can easily tell I was not really happy with this plot. It puts the whole recent promises and declaration of love between the two to waste (and Kurt hasn't even been in NYC for too long).

First of all, I see a lot of people are just beating down Blaine for cheating. But to put this into perspective as a real life situation and not being too biased on how amazing the couple is/was/were, the break up is essentially both their faults. Let's not forget Kurt had ignored Blaine's calls when he should remember why Blaine is calling him. Not to rain on Kurt's parade but he's been acting like a big shot when he is merely an intern. It is nice and all but he should not have put it over his head. And many have noticed that Blaine has an attention anxiety but this is mainly due to the fact that he has somewhat abandonment issues regarding his family and Kurt has been the person that has been dearest to his heart other than his family. Seeing how Kurt is/was(?) his boyfriend, he obviously must of been well aware of Blaine's insecurities so I think Kurt has been neglectful.

On the other hand, like I said the break up is both of their faults. As much as I feel sorry for Blaine, he still had no right to cheat or give into temptation. Actually I did have a similar incident happen to me with one of my exes where I left for vacation for two weeks away from home and he claimed to be so lonely that it gave him the right to find a replacement for me while I was gone. I can see the reasons as to why but still it's not easy to forgive and forget. Blaine was well aware of what he was doing and should not have gone down that road. Therefore I am really glad Sam decided to be Blaine's McKinley Wingman because like Kurt, Blaine really needs to remember what it was like before him and Kurt were Klaine. These two have always been together that they have forgotten how it is like to be themselves. So as sad as I am to say this, Klaine needs to go on hiatus on their relationship and do themselves (no pun intended). This is probably an excellent plot because since it is Blaine's senior year, Blaine has this gap time to pave the rough edges he has with his father. I am one of of those people who do not think his father is at all abusive like many would interpret in fanfics or in people's imagination, just simply a man who do not understand his son's sexuality. But yes Blaine certainly needs this time to overcome his insecurities and recollect himself. Kurt needs to spread his wings as Chris Colfer stated many times that Kurt has had it rough in high school, despite finding his soulmate, and needs this time to be happy. Like a still standing Klaine fan, I hope they could find a way back to each other in the end, but in the mean time Klaine really do need their space.

Overall I cannot wait for what the writers have in store for the rest of this year's Glee =).
