Sigh. I miss my old friends. I miss just hanging out and doing nothing and still having a good time. I don't miss college per say. I'm over that. But I miss the company. I feel like I see the same few people day in and day out, and even though I do go out with people, I feel little closeness ( Read more... )

I miss that part of college a lot, too. It's weird -- I didn't really appreciate that social aspect while I was there, and it's the one thing I really miss.

Ok, a.) that icon is HILARIOUS!!! I laughed out loud, and now my co-workers think I'm nuts.

b.) All I can think of is that stupid song:

"Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got til it's gone. They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."

The first sentence speaks for itself. The second just speaks for Hamline in general. They REALLY like knocking down random building and making parking lots. Sort of like kids in a sandbox...

Issues with your social life? This sounds VERY familiar. I can relate. We should chat some time.

Issues with my social life would indicate that I had a social life. So maybe it's more like a non-issue...I think I'm traveling to B-Town sometime next week. I'm not sure. My travel schedule is all seven kinds of f-ed up.

We need to hang out before the end of my school days. I'm moving to Connecticut next fall, and I'm not sure if I'll be spending my summer here or not (hopefullY!!!). Next week is bad for sure. LOVE.

Congrats doll! I'm utterly impressed (per usual!) with you.

Call my work cell after 7 (free minutes!)--my personal cell is quite dead currently. 651-336-0436.

Excellent! The weekend of the 20th is best for me, since I'm at NCUR for the majority of this upcoming week. Whoo! Hey, does your company happen to have any summer jobs/paid internships? I think I've got a place to sublet for the summer, I just need the employment now. The apartment is like 5 blocks from the Library and Blarney's in Dinkytown - drunkenness ensues?

Haha, awesome! Unfortunately, the only internships we have available are for MN State University students. If you were sticking around, we're hiring for a media person, but silly bitch that you are, you're going to the east coast!!!! I'm so jealous.

That sounds like the perfect locale. It's great living by bars. I'm literally about seven steps from fabulous ferns, and the Happy Gnome, Sweeney's Costellos, W.A. Frost, and the Muddy Pig are all within walking distance of my apartment. Good times!

You're more normal than you think. I would guess it's reasonably common for people to percieve freinds made after school years as being less close. Whether they are or not is up for debate since in retrospect I don't see a lot of genuine closeness from any school years anyway...with anyone...just the fake kind. I'm not saying everybody does this on purpose...all I'm saying is that people are way to concerned about their image to really get close to anyone. After college, in work settings, the facade becomes more apparent...and we finally start to percieve this lack of closeness. And it sucks! This is probably why a lot of people join churches. But most people don't really get close there either. To be honest, there are probably very few relationships in life that one truely can feel safe in and the ones that do develop are either because we got lucky enough to meet one of those amazing people or because we went through some unusual hardship with them (military people probably have a better chance of achieving genuine closeness) This ( ... )
