If you know me by now, you know that I have an incredible soft spot for monster movies and at the centre of that soft spot is a part that is basically mush and that spot is reserved for vampires. Like a lot of goths before and many more I'm sure after me, I love vampires. To be clear, I love the real ones. The monsters that eat people, even if they don't want to. I'm down with the ones who kill with no remorse. I'm down with the ones that lament their eternal existence too. I'm even down with the ones that have OCD and need to count everything in sight. I don't do sparkles. For that matter, I'm none too keen on YA stuff but I digress. The long and the short of it is that I love these things and I always have. As far back as I can remember, I collected things to do with Halloween and I love things to do with vampires to the point of obsession. (Suffice it to say that if I'm in a book store and I find a vampire book with a plot that is barely interesting, I usually find myself in the parking lot a few seconds later with a receipt telling me that I own the book in my hand. This would be why I own twice as many books on vampires as I do on any other topic in my home library.)
Anyway! Here's a list of some of my favorite vampy things that I've come across in the last year. Enjoy!
First off:
VAMPLETS!!! I love these things. I've been begging for one of these things for a few months now ever since I stumbled on the site and found myself enamored with the cute that is plushies of baby vampires. And if anyone is feeling particularly generous, you can feel free to send me one of these little bundles of joy. My personal favorites are Lily Rose Shadowlyn and Burton Creepson Jr.
Are there any Twilight people reading this? Now if the sparkles comment above didn't give it away, I'm not much for this book or really any teen romances out there that try to pass themselves off as vampire stuff, however, I will give kudos to this film for having the good sense to get the wonderful Peter Murphy to play the Cold One in Eclipse. If by some stretch, you don't know who Peter Murphy is a) I feel very bad for you because honestly, he is wonderful and b) he is the lead singer of the band Bauhaus, whose body of work is essential for anyone gothically inclined. Now I was going to try to show some love for the Twilight people here but apparently YouTube isn't going to cooperate with my plans. (ie. I was going to post Peter Murphy's ten second appearance in Eclipse but it has been removed.) Here, instead, is an absolutely lovely younger version of that fabulous singer singing the one song that we all know and love, Bela Lugosi's Dead at the beginning of The Hunger, which is arguably about as frightening as Twilight but about a billion times sexier because it has David (fucking) Bowie in it.

Seriously, if you don't think that is sexy, I don't know...
And if any of you out there enjoy you a little Twilight bashing,
there is a blog for you! While I'm suggesting blogs
here is a tumblr blog devoted to my favorite monster! The pictures on here are gorgeous usually and for your average vamp lover, this place is a good one for all kinds of eye candy!
Finally, here's one of my favorite people in the entire world reading a selection from one of the most well known vampire books of all time.

There are few singers in this world that make me giggle with glee at the thought of them and Andi Sexgang is one of them. I love this guy to pieces and his voice just makes me all kinds of happy. Here he is, delivering Van Helsing's speech from Dracula and making me love him about a million times more than I did before.
That's what I got for now. Join me at least once more before the big night and failing that, have yourself some pleasant nightmares and may you all have the spookiest of nights!
