'Tis nearly here my beloved silent-ish readership!! The one day I actually feel like I'm surrounded by normalcy!! Truthfully, there is no day I love quite as much as Halloween! Here's what I've collected for you to help in your celebration of my favorite day of the year!

It's hard not to love Cradle of Filth. Well this song anyway. I know that they are going for the whole surrealist thing here in this video but with the cheesy CGI effects in the trees, it kinda falls flat for me. That said, I love the story of this song and the video hits all the right cheese factors for me. That and what's Halloween without ghosts frolicking in the fog?

Blaqk Audio is kinda one of my early spring/summer bands that I like to indulge in around that time but this song hits all the right happy buttons and this video captures that surreal, midnight feeling that I love so much. To me, this is kinda what I'm looking forward tonight, after the clock strikes midnight and the world goes to sleep. It's haunting, ethereal and the perfect kind of music to listen to when it's four in the morning and you're not awake enough to do much but too awake to sleep just yet.
Looking for a little something to read while you enjoy this stuff?
How about the Little Vampires Comic? I love these guys! This is an online comic about mini vampires that attack Blood Oranges and enjoy things like telling stories, playing mini sports (to the best of their ability), attempting to terrorize cats and even the odd attempt as re-creating Star Trek. In this case, they've decided to do a re-telling of Sleepy Hollow.

Fair warning: Sopor Aeternus is a bit of an acquired taste and some people find Anna Varney a bit on the odd side. I love her and I love this song. I also think that it's a great soundtrack for Halloween. It's melodic and creepy but it has a sort of haunting feel to it. And with a song called Is is Safe to Sleep Alone? it's hard not to see it fitting well with the festivities. Also, if you are planning to listen to this late at night and things like bleak scenery and odd looking characters freak you out, probably a better idea to save this one until tomorrow afternoon.

Okay so I will admit that I've been a long time fan of Type O Negative and this is a song that I can only listen to on Halloween night. I actually cried when I found out that Peter Steele had passed away if only because you would never find anyone else who would write lyrics that sarcastic and fantastic ever again.
But what to do when you want Halloween every day? Since the rest of the world insists that this isn't going to happen (yet), sometimes you just have to make due with what you can. In this case, your best bet is to look towards those things and people who can offer you a little bit of solidarity. In this case I'm talking about
Curtis Rx of Creature Feature and Rufus Rex! Check out samples of his work here:

Now if you're anything like me, you'd probably give just about anything to be a member of the Adams Family household if only to live around all the fabulous things they have. I'd probably live at the Haunted Mansion all year long if they let me. So if you are trying to find a way to transform a one bedroom apartment into your own little piece of Halloween town
I suggest this place. Seriously, I get excited when they send me their booklets of their new selections.

If you haven't guessed by now, I have a soft spot for David Bowie and that spot only gets softer when it's one of his songs set to some fantastic black and white horror movies. When you add in black and white movies that feature Vincent Price and Bela Lugosi, I'm generally butter in your hand. Enjoy!

Last video for you guys this year. This is Blue by The Birthday Massacre. I love these guys and this video has the creep factor that makes this band's sound surreal and catchy at the same time. If you haven't guessed by now, I'm big on that type of thing. Anyway, I thought that dolls were kinda creepy and that this would be a good thing to share for the greatest day of the year so I hope you enjoy it late at night like you should!
Well friends, the night is coming to a close soon and the very day will be upon us. (If you're in a different time zone, it might very well be upon you already in which case I'm jealous!) Anyway, the cupcakes have been baked, the tea has been brewed, the candles have been lit and one of the Halloween movies is on TV. Time to break out more candy and get this party started!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!
