Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the point of meta was to...well, analyze and that analysis requires...wait for it...objectivity ( Read more... )

Pure meta communities are just asking for either in-fighting or...in-fighting. Sooner or later someone is going to step on someone's toes. And for reasons beyond my comprehension, people tend to take that very seriously when on LJ.

This is true. I had a little kerfuffle over at ds_discourse (which is a meta communtiy so why we needed another...) in Oct 2005 over choosing to believe S3 canon (silly me and my poor wording). I stepped on pretty much the whole LJ dS fandom's toes. Twas not a pleasant experience.

But that's why they have fandom_wank.

Yes, that's another mind boggling thing when I was searching up due South comms (which was such a harrowing experience). Why two meta communities? At first I thought it might be for the different sub-genres (one for S1&2, one for S3(/4)), but then it looked like the exact the same thing, just a different name.

And I believe I read that mini-kerfluffle, a reason why I back-buttoned out of there as fast as my computer processor would let me. The entire "season 3 can do no wrong" mentality makes me shudder.
