When my household was strapped for cash, we canceled cable tv completely and disconnected our landline phone. It saved a lot of money and we never bothered with a landline again. We do have cable now, though.

By the way, there are torrents of shows. I watched the third season of House via internet. ;D

Selling old stuff is good too. When I clean out my stuff, I ask myself if I've watched/listened to/read this dvd/cd/book in two years. If it's a dearly loved thing, I keep it. If I'm 'eh' about it, I sell it and/or find a digital copy.

I say lower the cable. I watch those channels, too, but would rather do w/out them than internet! You can dl a lot of shows now, and there are days when I don't turn on the tv at all (most of them, to be honest).

Yeah I think that's a good start. I'm going to put some of my manga up on ebay this week and try and get a little extra cash.
