I've been trying to figure out whether I want to write my column this week about some aspect of the Anna Nicole thing. It's been all over the news (much like her whole life was), and there's a lot of different ways it could go. On the one hand, I'm sad for her. Yes, she did a lot of things that probably sped up the process of her eventual death, but I'm sad for her and that, while there may very well have been a private side of her that wasn't so nuts, all the world will ever know of her is what we've witnessed in her public life and, now, her public death.
I'm also sad for her baby. It's quite possible that all the baby will ever grow up to really know of her mother is the portrayal she (deservedly) got in the media. And this whole thing about "who's the real BabyDaddy" isn't helping.
I'm not saying we should forgive all Anna Nicole's past behaviors that got her to where we are now. I just think it's sad that she lived and died the way she did, because that's all she'll be remembered for. Seems like a wasted life to me, ya know?
