I have a drinking problem. I am addicted to alochol and I need help. I can't do it anymore by myself. I just feel that I lost who I am. Does anyone ever feel like this? Someone help me.

I used to be very very down on AA, but I've drastically changed that position. It works for many people and for some people it's the only thing that works. I would go so far as to say that going to a meeting may be the best first step you can try, and I really don't think it can hurt. You don't have to speak at that first meeting; in fact, I'd strongly advise against it. Listen to others speaking; one of the best and most useful things about AA is the evidence that you are not alone.

I echo organizedinsane's concern about withdrawal. Alcohol withdrawal is not kind stuff -- it can be dangerous. I mean: in extreme cases it can kill. I don't know what your intake level has been, but bodily responses to withdrawal vary enough that even low-level physical addiction can spark heavy withdrawal symptoms, though the chances are low.

Think about that right now, because depending on your usage history, the window of onset for withdrawal symptoms can be as short as 8 to 24 hours after the last intake of alcohol -- and the faster they arrive the worse ( ... )
