I'm "working" for an extra hour today, so here's the
1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Among other things: Spent time in Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, visited NYC without parents/chaperones, went to Mexico, ended a relationship, was SO excited to go back to school, was significantly less excited to go back to school, got into Wind Ensemble, missed connecting flights, saw Sarah in CALIFORNIA!, missed more connecting flights, performed in fordfest (not yet, but I will tomorrow!).
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I had any. If I did I didn't keep them. But yes, I'll probably make some this year.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
nope
4. Did anyone close to you die?
no, thankfully
5. What countries did you visit?
Mexico!
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Confidence/courage
7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 4th for obviously awesome reasons, June 13th for significantly less awesome ones.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting into wind ensemble, probably
9. What was your biggest failure?
I suppose it's good that nothing jumps out at me immediately. I guess losing my practice motivation for a few weeks. I found it though, so it's ok.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing serious.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Um... a lot of oboe music? I dunno. Some sweet Christmas presents. I don't have any really awesome material thing that I didn't have in 2005.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
All of the wonderful people at home and at school that make my life more interesting and enjoyable.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Haha, I could probably think of someone...
14. Where did most of your money go?
School-related things (books, music, parking ticket...) and gas for the 370-mile drive I made... 12 times? Wow. That's a lot.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The cruise that never happened, the trip to Cancun that did instead, the 4th of July, coming back to school, visiting Sarah, Fordfest! (It hasn't even happened. That's how excited I am.)
16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
If I had a million dollars (barenaked ladies), We didn't go to harvard (cover of we didn't start the fire, by that a capella group at cornell), Apotheosis of this earth (Karel Husa, as performed by the IC Wind Ensemble), various Dave Matthews songs
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? Happier.
thinner or fatter? About the same, I think
richer or poorer? Gosh, poorer. I actually worked all summer, so my parents stopped paying for things. Paying for things is a bitch.

Practicing, of course; and skiing
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
worrying. I worried a lot this year.

no

none; that's not my deal.
23. What was your favorite TV program? New one?
Scrubs! Rather fond of Heroes too
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate is kind of harsh. But I definitely dislike people I didn't last year.
25. What was the best book you read?
either Fluke or Caucasia, the first Ian gave me for christmas last year, and the second I read in lit class
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Haha, David Maslanka, if that doesn't make me a total geek.
27. What did you want and get?
Ditto Sarah, a job.
28. What did you want and not get?
An english horn? No, well, I would have liked to play in Scheherazade.
29. What was your favorite film(s) of this year?
Ooh... Stay was really awesome, so was The Last Kiss... PotC 2 was great as well
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I drove Ian, Sarah, and Raechel back to NH with me! I turned 19, the lamest of all birthdays.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having Sarah as a roommate, for sure.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
I call it "college casual." Basically my concept is to... not be naked?

Oboe, friends at school, friends at home, my kitties
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Um... Nick Walker? No seriously, I have no idea.

I'm not very political, but probably gay marriage.
36. Who did you miss?
Sarah, my kitties, even home for a little bit.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
The bassoon girls, although I sort of knew them before. Jill, Maggie, Jen
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Don't compromise yourself for anyone.
