Facebook SNAFU

I got a little obsessed with Facebook after joining earlier this week. (I'm sick and it's a been way to entertain myself when I can't sleep due to postnasal horribleness, for example.)

But the universe has pwned me in my quest for FB activity: I am logged out and can't log back in. The password reset function has no result...I get no reset confirmation email. The online help form I used resulted in two emails from the "Facebook Team" (do they play basketball together?). The last message I received from them says they have no record of an account with the email address I provided. They essentially deny my FB existence.

As of yesterday I was still getting so-and-so added you as a friend and comment notice email at that address. That has now stopped. Two FB friends report that my account's profile page exists and is visible to them, doesn't seem to have any spammer/hijacked account issues from what they can tell, and lists the email address that I opened the account with (which, you will recall, the FB team email says is not linked to any account at all in their system).

If you friended me on FB in the last day or two and I haven't responded, I'm not ignoring you. I just can't get in to my account.

I sent another email back to the "Team." This time I included the URL for my profile. (Thanks MT and PS for providing the URL!!) Hopefully that will prove to them that I am not crazy when I say I have an account. I guess I could start over with a new account, but it seems kind of wasteful of effort as well as something that FB should be able to deal with more gracefully than it is so far. Maybe there is some kind of server sync or backup issue causing the left hand not to know what the right hand is doing?

From all the "it must just be a FB issue" kind of responses I get from live people when I talk about my problems, I begin to think that the AFU part might really be a normal situation for FB.

ETA: well, I got another XXX just added you as a friend notice, so I guess I'm still getting the emails at the address they say there is no FB account for. lol.
