You made me cry! You made me cry. For the first time I actually thought about the fact that my husband is going to be deployed this Fourth of July granted he's on his way home YAY!!!! But he's been gone since Feb 21 and we miss him so very much...my son and I are counting the days until he comes home. And today we got tangible news that he's coming homne...he's only 7 hours ahead of us instead of 8.
So thank you for this post, and I hope you don't mind if I link to it..as I did last year..because that speech in The American President is one of my favorites...right up there with Independence Day and Air Force One. Thank you!

*slow clap* Nice Cheryl. I may have to watch that movie, don't think I've ever seen it. It's okay we all get sappy now and then.

My dad is a former Marine, although once a Marine always a Marine. A couple of years ago, my sister and I were sitting at an IHOP with him when a young Marine in uniform walked by us. My dad shouted out, "Semper Fi" the Marine turned and said it right back. He came over, they shook hands and they got into a long conversation about the military and life in general. It kind of teared me up. There were these two men, total strangers to each other, from different generations but they shared this bond. It was kind of beautiful.
