Dear Weather: My car, and by extension I, cannot handle driving on ice and/or packed-down snow for long distances. Add to that the fact that I now work about 30 miles north of where I live, and you have a recipe for disaster. That sucks. What is it about suburban PA local government that makes them believe that snow only happens to other people?

Fortunately for me, a) the university has closed a couple of times and b) the days off I've had to take were covered by holiday time... but tomorrow I may be leaving Beekman home and driving in myself. Goodness knows what I'm going to do about my night shift tomorrow if the university is open.

*hugs right back* You are fortunate. My enforced days off wouldn't be a problem if I was back at my old job, with vacation days etc. But I have to work at Ehrlich for 6 months before I get vacation time, and I'm on month 4 and a half.

Yes, I'm taking today off too. Berks County is under an ice storm warning, with 1 inch of ice accumulation plus fallen tree limbs & power outages. Ehrlich Pest Control is not worth risking my life. (Don't tell the head honchos I said that!)
