Russian cravings

I'm having withdrawal symptons from speaking Russian. I'm not practicing it enough, and as a result I'm fogetting stuff, so when I do come to practice it I have less confidence. And just  doing extra reading is all well and good, but unless I'm in a really studious mood that's often less fun (and puts less pressure on you to do it) than speaking to ( Read more... )

According to a book I have somewhere, which I can't find right now, which was written (or at least, presented) by Spike Milligan, there was a man somewhere who could part his hair just by using his scalp muscles. No hands, no comb.

Not sure if that helps... :)

Can you learn hypnosis? Somehow convince Ilya to not speak English when speaking to you? (An easily abusable talent, applicable to many other things, I'm sure...)

Lol that's so random! How on earth do you discover you can do that?!

I suppose the best way to get Ilya to speak Russian is to speak to him incessantly in Russian and just pretend I don't understand anything he says in English. It works in theory, but it requires me to be really firm with myself about speaking only Russian, which I can never seem to keep up for long :(

Having that sort of party with less than 10 people would be a bit, erm, redundant... On a related note I was dreaming in German last night for the first time in ages, proving I've not lost it subconciously :D

Hair sounds cool. If you just want a straight cut I'm sure Matt would be, erm, persuadable to oblige! Anything more complicated than somewhere between 2"-6" is a bit beyond him though!

I am thinking you should join Russian Speakers at Uni, if it still exists :) I know that doesn't help until September/October but it's a start?

I think I may have already joined that society this year, and then managed to completely fail to go to all the introduction meetings (Ilya's fault!) so I'll have to try again next year I guess.

I'm hoping to have a quite a bit of hair chopped off and I already have an appointment booked so won't need to make use of Matt's services, thanks for offering them though!

Matt's services are free (probably), but inferior! Well, he'll say they are anyway.
