They mention that the book is about 15 years old, which means it was probably written juuuuust before the widespread use and abuse of fanfiction. Clearly, there was some publisher out there who hadn't reached their saturation point of crappy self-insertion schlock yet.

I secretly love that stuff like this exists though. It's just too damn funny!

On one hand, this restores a little bit of my respect for the author.
However, it removes all respect I could have possibly had for the editor.
