A Camp

There is a wall around most of my medieval hood. But there are always outsiders and travelers.

Before the travelers join the village, they will probably stay at The Camp. This is where I get a chance to play the fresh-out-of-CAS sim and decide their fate. Maybe they'll run into another playable that is looking to take on an apprentice or two.

Or maybe the sim is an extra or townie that I need to customize more than can be done in CAS.

Or maybe I just need to get a few pictures of the sim before playing them. Then I can have a picture of what the sim originally looked like.

With either scenario, I decided I needed to create "camps" on the edge of my villages that are semi-permanent for my hood. So, I made a template of a camp that I'm sharing with you.

This is only one camp. I've made several. Merchants will stay at a nicer camp, or lodge. Royalty will surely have appropriately fancy lodges to spend a night or several days.

This camp is for the poor souls. Those that feel lucky to have the smallest bit of shelter from the elements and a kind soul to tell them where to find land, or where the markets are. Keep in mind, this is a residential lot. It allows for more flexibility than community lots, I think. I like to be able to add/change decor in the lots without discovering an item I wanted to use is not enabled for community lots. Which isn't to say that this can not be re-zoned to be a community lot. Whatever fits.

In addition, I might use the lot just to townify my CAS souls. So, I find an out of the way place to hide my favorite mods on the lot and use the lot over and over for whenever I want a "camp" for the poor souls atmosphere.

Here are a few pictures of this first simple Camp.

Features all you see. Really, the only things indoors are a couple of tubs. It's a camp, not a home. You'll have to provide your own indoor candles as there is only minimal outside lighting. There is a grill at the side of the hut. Outhouses at the back. Room for a driveway (not included) in the front and simple stables/cover for the horses. Provide your own horses or other animals. There's the bonfire from Bon Voyage near the center of the lot. If you want to use the waterfall on the pond, there's room around the pond. Without too many horses, there's room under the stables for placing sleep mats.

Notes from playing: The well. Pay attention to the well. I have to look where that came from, but it made my sims sick. Not a problem, I can use that feature. I just happened to like the look of that well, without remembering it was modded with interesting effects for your sims. It's a recent addition to my game and if I keep forgetting its features, it will definitely add some interesting times in my hood. I'll add a link later. The well is from hafiseazale and I thought it was only decor.

This is the lot I used to take pictures of some of my sims for GoS' Dec sim challenge. Can you guess which pictures were taken at this lot? It might not be obvious because I obviously made a few changes.

I suppose I should have a more interesting name than the Camp, but I'll get over it. I hope you will, too.

Please use Clean Installer (http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/) or MacUnpac (http://forum.jfade.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=456) to install these lots to avoid any items or problems you do not want. These lots are originals, so have NEVER been played. It is suggested you make a backup of your game before installing any new lots.

Expansions I have are: TS2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Seasons, Bon Voyage, GLS

Finally, you can download the Camp from dropbox.
