LJ Herald - Sponsored Content Change

BTW, are you reading the_lj_herald? It posts regular digests with information compiled from news, lj_biz along with other announcements and updates. One-stop-summation for the latest info about LJ.

At any rate, I thought you paid & permanent users would appreciate being informed of this:Sponsored 'content', which used to be assimilated to advertising, no longer is.

Eh. If someone I know wants to use sponsored layouts, that's their issue. Since I primarily read via my friends page (and only go to someone's layout for commenting), I don't see it as a big deal.

The day 6A/LJ decides that as a Paid user I must see sponsored content on MY OWN layouts (including my Friends page), I will seriously consider jumping ship.

Do you have your friends page set to convert other people's mood icons to your style?

If not, and if somebody chooses the Pepsi mood icons, then you'll be seeing them. [I'll confess, at first *I* thought they looked innocuous, but then somebody pointed out that it's a not a still pic, but an animated gif which shows the picture for 8 seconds and then a logo for 2 seconds.]

I don't. Still, it doesn't bother me any more than any other animated mood icons. I think it's a poor choice on the part of LJ/6A, but not a fatal one. It's when they require ME to serve ads (after I've paid them) that I go away.
