I just wanted to write in asking what exactly did you mean when you said that you're "offending the same law you're penalizing" in the Salinger post. Sorry. Just, my name was attached, and being a very paranoid person, just wanted to clarify that.
If it means. . . Well, I'll just wait for the answer. I won't get ahead of myself. But, hey, you agreed with me!
What a strange and exciting new feeling.

- As for judging him: I my intention wasn't to judge him for his post. I suppose in my humor, there is more insult than what I truly wanted to do, which was to remind him of why we gather in praise and celebration of Salinger's work and what it stands for as a whole. "Franny" and "Zooey" being the best examples for my comment, but I do Catcher in the Rye also stands for similar themes, beyond Holden's overall attitude through out the book. Besides, in addition to the ending, we do realize that Holden is a hypocrite throughout the story (which is why I agree with six's comment, as crude and further insulting as it was; but I digress).
Through all of Salinger's work, I've never felt it was solely about judging society, even though that does occur through a majority of the stories. To me, it's about everyone's redeeming qualities, in which forgiveness and tolerance are two of the most powerful.
But, again, you're right: I did pretty much insult him.
Sorry.
- Nice meeting you!
- Dave.
