You are getting very moany of late Chessie. I agree the world can be an irritating place, and sometimes we lose our 'hwll' (Welsh word, meaning an enthusiasm of spirit). In the end, though, usually it just means we have been stressed, and are tired, and not that the world has suddenly become more annoying. Take a break, do something different, switch off for a bit. Then you will be able once again (as you usually do) to find automated call centres a source of great amusement, not irritation, and people intriguing and entertaining, no matter what they might do, say, or be like.

I'm not being moany, JP. I think you misread my intent. My intent was to try to make something funny out of several things that were very annoying and time consuming and to try to see the humorous side of them. I had hoped you would laugh when you read it, not chastise me for being moany. I agree I do not have the knack of sarcastic commentary like Bill Bryson does since he gets paid tons of money for doing the very same thing.
