Before I get to the stupid stuff, I must tell what my dog did last night. I had left the dishwasher door open, fully intending to come back in a few minutes and put the soap in and turn it on. A few minutes turned into half an hour and when I entered the dining room, I noticed there was a trail of bowls and plates leading under the dining room

You have your own well? That is so quaint.

I am also intrigued by the fact that your water tank is in the basement. I had always vaguely assumed that water tanks lived in the roof, since that is the only place I have ever seen one. However, thinking about it, I don't have a roof at all, so mine can't possibly be there. In fact, on reflection, I have no idea at all how water arrives in my flat, or what factors might govern its gushiness.
