TQC, how do you deal with drama at work?
I've been interning at a law firm. I'm about half way through with completing all of my hours. I started in November and was scheduled to be done at the end of March, beginning of April.
Last Thursday, I was asked about staying on full time after I graduate (part time until then). I said hell yeah. I love how relaxed the environment is, and it means no job hunting in May.
It turns out, one of the works keeps dropping the ball on a lot of stuff. We file applications for state aid. She only gets out a couple a month when she should be getting out 3-4 times that amount.
The wires keep getting crossed. Appointments that she schedules with clients don't always make it onto the schedule. Legal paperwork that needs drawn up doesn't get given to the person who does that until an hour or two before she needs it...I could go on.
They want to "lighten" her work load and make me the new public benefits specialist...which I'm all for. As an intern, I only make minimum wage. As a regular employee, I'll make double that.
This all came about last week, the day before they approached me about it. Until I speak with the boss man and we have a few meetings, this is all being kept very quiet.
When it all comes out into the open, shit is going to hit the fan. I know that the person I'm "lightening" the load for is going to be extremely pissed at me. I don't know how her assistant is going to react, but I'm assuming it is going to be bad as well.
Summary: I'm taking over most of the work for another employee. She's going to view it as me stealing her job..she's going to be super pissed and create a ton of work drama..
So..how do I deal with this? There's no way in hell I can turn the job down. Not for nearly $15 an hour. It isn't my fault she's dropping the ball, but I know she's going to treat me like it is. grr..
And in case you don't care about that..
Winter storm or not, I'm going to a Seether/3 Days Grace/Breaking Benjamin concert on Thursday. Has anyone seen any of these bands live? How was it?
When was the last time you went to a concert? Who did you see?
