Kevin Smith and Southwest

Feb 16, 2010 10:57

While I respect Kevin Smith's films and feel for him on his getting booted off a plane for being "too large" on Southwest Airlines, my mind went immediately to:

Why is a man as wealthy as Kevin Smith flying a POS discount airline like Southwest? Um, dude could afford his own f-ing plane!

Do us a favor, Mr. Smith. Support the economy, fly first

Pretty much true, he could, and as it is, he bought two seats in accordance with their flight regulations, and they waited until he was onboard and settled to boot him. All I can think is, rich, poor, whatever, that is fucking humiliating, and if it happened to me, I'd be throwing a fit too, it's just he has the voice to be able to really generate some bad press for them, and he's using it to try and get things changed, so I say good for him.

Funny, but I thought the same thing you did.

I thought the same thing. Kevin Smith on Southwest? The other thing I was thinking of was "he isn't that big". I've seen a recent picture of him online and he has put on a few pounds, but still, he isn't super huge.

yeah, I was talking about that with my husband earlier tonite; form the pic on the article about it, he doesn't look bigger than me or my husband (i'm 285, hubby's 280), and we've never been aasked to buy a second ticket when we've flown southwest, or had any hassle from the stews when i asked for a seatbelt extender (damn that last half inch! lol), and I have no problems making sure I don't take up any room that belongs to my seatmates, so WTF?

Does Southwest have first class? Not that he couldn't have gone with another airline, but I was just curious.
