Why is it that we Westerners have such a major issue with the consumption of cat and dog, yet we find the consumption of cow, chicken, and pig to be completely acceptable? Is it because that cats and dogs have been domesticated as pets in the West for so long that the very thought has become abhorrent? I'd like to hear other opinions on this. Here' ( Read more... )

Peruvians eat guinea pig. It's like a national dish. It's less meaty than rabbit.

I find the mistreatment of the animals repulsive. I think with cats and dogs, we do have a sense of those two in particular being domesticated.

That being said, waterbuffalo has also been domesticated and I have no problems eating that. Arabs eat camels. I think Aussies occasionally eat kangaroo.
