Cool!

The experienced local guide should come out sometime and teach the kids what to do out here...they're kind of out of sorts. They've walked the dog out to the Fiat, and the loner dog (a big black lab named Zack), but they're still village kids trying to get theyre country wits.

Played a lot of basketball in what is now (and was also then) Grandma's driveway. There used to be a hoop over the rightmost garage bay. Bushwacked through a tremendous amount of the land out back. There used to be a small clubhouse in the pine grove northeast of your mother's house, that's probably since rotted or been removed. Sledding on the empty pond the neighbor has, but I don't know that neighbor or how friendly he is. :) Lots of time with BB guns and tin cans with a couple straw bales as backstops. Used to walk up to Babcock Breeders on Iradell and sneak in the back way to fish their pond. Bombing all over the place on bicycles (knobby tires are a good thing). Fireflies all summer long - that field out back was literally carpeted with them. Sleepouts in the screened-in portion of the porch, or sometimes a tent. Hide'n'seek with the neighborhood on summer nights. Model rockets. Waterguns. Occasional sledding or skating at Rice Hill. Crawfishing in the tiny pond northeast of you. Lying in the grass watching clouds or stars go by ( ... )
