Summertime Flings, Flowers and Other Things

May 18, 2010 21:10

I've been looking through the free layouts on LJ. Um, I think that's what they're called. Does anyone think I should, like, change mine for summer? Speaking of which I hear the summer colds are going around. Don't forget to wash your hands, people. We don't need the prison to end up a quarantine zone. In fact, I'm gonna do some laundry later. If ( Read more... )

I hope you'll enjoy the care package when it arrives, Ms. Miney. I'll be sure to include a few extras as well.

Also, it's good to hear that you seem to be doing all right? I think? I'm glad the gentlemen are behaving themselves. We don't have co-ed prisons in Cohdopia, so it's rather a new concept for me!

Please do take care of yourself, if there's something going around the prison. I wouldn't want you to fall ill.

Thank you very much, Mr. Ambassador! I'm sure I will. Despite the reactions I saw on your post about it, my neighbors who know about it seem to be excited. Oh, I'll do my best to keep the summer bugs away from everyone. I used to be a nurse, so sometimes my skills can come in handy.

Really? But that's all right. Co-ed prisons aren't a popular concept with a lot of people, sir. Well, at least in the US they don't seem to be. Women activists I've come across definitely aren't big fans. But the amount of studies that show the co-ed concept can be pretty positive has been increasing, I think. I've been here for, like, two years now and nothing super-violent has happened yet. (That could be because a lot of the inmates are somewhat familiar with each other, I guess.)

Speaking of prisons I've heard that Cohdopia's law system can be pretty harsh. But I guess a lot of places outside the US are still, like, really strict when it comes to punishment. How have the crime rates been doing for Cohdopia lately?

I'm glad to hear that they're excited. I'll do my best to include a little something for everyone.

Ah, I see, you were a nurse! Then I'm sure you'll be fine. You must know just what to do. Your neighbors are fortunate to have you to advise them.

Co-ed prisons are a thought-provoking concept. I'm very glad there hasn't been much violence. That's a relief.

Cohdopia is currently undergoing a period of upheaval, as the country split years ago and is now reuniting. So the crime rates have risen slightly.

The former nation of Babahl (one half of Cohdopia) had already enacted prison reforms, and were more comparable to the US, unlike the correctional system in the former nation of Allebahst. Now the Reunification Committee is deciding on a compromise between the two. It's quite a difficult, drawn-out process! It's an interesting time to be a Cohdopian.

Yep, although it might take them a while to realize it. O_~

It sounds like things have gotten pretty crazy, huh? But you seem to enjoy your job very much in spite of all the hard work, Mr. P. It's so admirable that you're the boss of so many things and you still treat everyone so nicely. Makes me wish I had chosen to work for you instead of my ex-boss! Well um, if I could've. Do you have to be like, from Cohdopia to work for its Embassy?

Group therapy in a prison? I've never heard of that sort of thing. They didn't have it while I was in, anyway.

Do you feel better after the session?

Hey Andrews. Yeah, I guess it's a new touchy-feely way of trying to help fix us "bad guys." Everyone really seems to be getting into that positive reinforcement stuff.

This time we didn't exactly make "progress" though. Everyone was kind of too busy taking cheap shots at each other. Some of it was kinda' funny though, so yeah, I guess I feel a bit better. How about you? Pick up any new jobs lately?

Not yet, unfortunately, but that's all right. It's given me time to catch up on my reading, and I'm not exactly in dire financial straits.

The "cheap shots" thing is something I do remember from my own time. It seems like people in enclosed environments are basically the same whether they're criminals or not.

That's good to hear. I've gotten to start reading some more; stuff I actually like. I tell ya, one thing that really stinks about pretending to be someone else is having to be "interested" in everything that person likes, especially if you hate it!

Haha, sounds about right! I don't think I've changed too much, but I feel a lot less jumpy and anxious than I used to. It's kind of strange considering where I am, huh? But it makes me think about the co-ed thing I was talking about with the good ambassador. Right now it doesn't feel like anyone's about to "add to their list of crimes" so to speak. Being me, I'm pretty sure I'd be "defensive" if I was stuck in an all-girls joint.

There was an impersonator at the Hotti Clinic? I trust he's been apprehended?

There's something wrong with sounding like your sister?

That's kind of weird. If anything, I think my own would be flattered if I caught onto some of her better mannerisms.

...It's a very long and messy story, honey.

I'll spare you the friendly chatter about car crashes, surgery and mind-breaking emotional trauma and say you should just thank your lucky stars your sister is still with you. You're like, even luckier if you two are close.

Mayyyyybe.

But if you two like, start going steady or anything, let me know! At least watch out for her, Portsman. That poor kid needs all the protection she can get in here. Although, heh, if she's dating a naughty prosecutor like you, she may already be in trouble~~

Haha! Are you that curious? You little gossip-hound, you.

You don't need to worry, in any case.

"Don't need to worry," huh? What's that supposed to mean, huh?

Even if you're not, you be nice to her, y'hear?
