ABOUT YOU

[Name:] Hi or M_C is fine.

[LJ Handle:] masked_creator

[Contact Info:] angelitsuka@gmail.com

[Which of the games have you played?] Justice For All and Ace Attorney Investigations are the only games I’ve played through myself, but I’ve watched playthroughs of the first and third games (and Apollo Justice) to keep up.

[How much RP-ing have you done?] This would be my first time RP-ing in a community, but I frequently role-play one on one or in a group with my friends (many of whom enjoy this series as well, and a few are already participating in this very community).

[Age] 21

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER

GENERAL

[Name:] Mimi Miney

[Age:] 24 (Assuming the listed age in the game for “Ini,” 21, was the age the real Ini would be if she were still alive at the time of the trial. Mimi’s official age was never listed. I would guess Mimi is about two years older than Ini, and according to the Court Records timeline it’s been almost two years since she was convicted, so I’d say she’d be nearing 25 by now.)

[Gender:] Female

[Marital Status:] Single

[Sexuality:] Straight. Mimi has always enjoyed the company, compliments and attention of cute guys who enjoyed discussing cars and machinery as much as she did, and had a number of boyfriends. However, once she decided to become a nurse, her romantic life took a bit of a backseat to her primary hobby and studies. Due to her personal insecurities, she has never been close to many girls, although she had few problems working with other women while she was a nurse.

[Occupation:] Formerly a nurse at the Grey Surgical Clinic, she is now incarcerated. (These days, she occasionally helps guards to temporarily dress wounds prisoners inflict on each other in exchange for a benefit or two in prison.)

[Ladder Preference:] "As long as it works, I don't care. Our equipment in the clinic was never up to snuff thanks to Grey being such a cheap-ass whenever it came to everything but his own stuff."

CONNECTIONS

[Family:]

Ini Miney (Sister): Mimi and Ini were never particularly close siblings, although they usually got along more than they argued. Mimi harbored a silent jealousy of Ini, envious of her little sister’s fairly decent relationship with their mother and Ini’s ability to get away with almost anything thanks to her charm and cute features. During the years building up to the accident, they grew further and further apart, both girls having several very different interests-Ini preoccupied her time with shopping, boys and her own curious fascination with the occult while Mimi dedicated hours of her life to her profession and to driving whenever she had the free time. Mimi had begun taking her anger out on Ini just like everyone else before the accident that took Ini’s life, something Mimi has never forgiven herself for (even though she could never admit her own guilt). Mimi’s “recreation” of Ini for the most part was accurate, except Mimi made herself act a bit more simple-minded than Ini did so that people wouldn’t take her seriously enough to deem her “suspicious” should she end up in the center of trouble.

Mother: Mimi and Ini’s mother is a professional businesswoman who works for a famous clothing conglomerate. Very much of a girly-girl, she fell head over heels for the girls’ father who some would call your perfect picture of “manly.” Being a feminist as well as the family breadwinner, Mimi and Ini’s mother never let her daughters forget that in life, you would have to learn to be your own hero, and that waiting for someone to rescue you is a symbol of weak-mindedness. Mimi and her mother’s relationship grew increasingly rocky after Ini was born as Mimi grew jealous of her little sister getting all the attention. Mimi as a result feels that Ini was born solely because her mother started to notice that Mimi was not growing out of her “tomboy” stage and knew she would never be the “feminine dress-up doll daughter” Mimi feels her mother wanted. In spite of this, Mimi has tried very hard to gain her mother’s approval, which was another reason she decided to become a nurse with her mother always reminding her she “needed to look into getting a realistic SAFE job with a good paycheck.” Unfortunately, Mimi and her mother’s relationship tumbled into the void of no return soon after Mimi’s malpractice incident. After Mimi was exposed and imprisoned, her mother has since stopped speaking to her out of a mixture of anger, hurt and guilt over letting her family fall apart. She is very stubborn and has a difficult time admitting when she’s wrong, even if her intentions are good.

Father: Mimi was always closer to her father than her mother. Her father worked part-time at two jobs-one as a mechanic and one helping to patch roofs-while serving as his daughters’ main emotional support due to his wife being often preoccupied with work. He trained himself to stay out of the fights between his daughters and their mother, but now feels guilty for it thinking if he had spoken up more, maybe he could have prevented the ensuing chaos. While her father still visits Mimi from time to time in jail, he has let her know that what she did was unforgivable, but that he can understand why it happened. He still loves his daughter dearly and like his wife feels that he has let his daughters down. Mimi regrets that she didn’t speak to him about how hard Grey was driving her: at the time, all she had been doing was fighting with her mother, and the last thing she had wanted to do was bother her father about her problems.

[Friends:]

While Mimi occasionally hears from a few acquaintances and former co-workers she was on good terms with before her life spiraled out of her control, besides her father, there is no one she is immediately close with. The last few years of her life before she became Ini forced her to give up much of her social life due to how busy she became, and after she was unmasked by Phoenix Wright, she ceased all contact with the people from her college-Ini’s friends-who had believed her to be her little sister (or rather, many of them ceased contact with her). She has yet to become “chummy” with any of her fellow inmates, although there are individuals she can get along with. She tends to avoid the women and gravitates more towards the men-at least the ones around her own age.

[Enemies:]

Turner Grey: Mimi continues to loathe him above all others, and feels no remorse for murdering him. While most of her anger towards him is well-justified in that he pushed her and her fellow nurses very hard while he was her employer, a great deal of her hatred for him stems from her own guilt and displacement of blame for the deaths of the fourteen patients she accidentally caused, and the death of her sister brought about by the pressure and exhaustion she was under as a result of those deaths. She continues to view Grey as the man who not only ruined her career and dreams, but as the person who continued to torment her even in her “death.” While she feels no personal guilt, she continues to distance herself from general blame claiming Grey brought it all upon himself.

Phoenix Wright: Mimi views him as the single man who outwitted her, and remembering this upsets her. However, she cannot bring herself to hate him as in finding her out, he tore off her mask and “brought her back to life.” While this made her very angry at first, she has since come to realize that thinking she could keep up her facade forever was unrealistic and has come to appreciate having the chance to be herself again. However, she has had difficulty admitting this to herself and would never admit it to anyone else. If she found herself “graced” with his presence again, she’d be cold and withdrawn, but would at least attempt to keep the conversation “civil” and straight to the point.

Morgan Fey: After studying up on the Fey family line and hearing all the village gossip, Mimi got close to Morgan in an attempt to come up with an elaborate plan that would benefit them both. This took time and a lot of energy, and as such, Mimi never came to enjoy the company of her accomplice in Grey’s murder (even though she could sympathize with the woman’s jealousy of her little sister). Mimi believes any further contact between them now would only bring trouble (not that she’s seen much of her), and bitterly believes that Morgan’s carelessness was a large part of the reason their plan to frame Maya fell apart. Mimi is also secretly terrified that she’ll end up just like Morgan when she reaches that age.

Franziska Von Karma: Mimi partially blames her for her conviction as Franziska allowed the cross-examination of “Ini” to continue solely for the purpose of trying to defeat and humiliate Phoenix Wright. Mimi considers Franziska a bossy, arrogant and overbearing loud-mouthed woman who couldn’t do her job properly, although the fear of getting a face full of whip leather convinced Mimi to keep such an opinion to herself.

The Judge: Dumb as a doornail-a senile old fart who should have retired a long time ago. How he was put in charge of determining the outcome of people’s lives Mimi feels she’ll never know.

[Other:]

Pearl Fey: While not necessarily an enemy, Mimi remembers her as “the old lady’s brat” who ruined the consistency of her testimony and allowed Phoenix to begin to unravel the rest of her lies. She thinks of her as little more than an “inconvenience” to this day.

Maya Fey: While Mimi did not bear any ill will towards Maya on a personal level, her desperation to stop Grey from finding out the truth allowed her to overcome her sense of right and wrong, and thus she was able to see Maya as a tool to helping her escape rather than a person who’s life she’d be destroying by painting her as the true criminal. Mimi does not feel any guilt for what she put Maya through as she figures in the end Maya came out of the situation no better or worse than when she entered it-this opinion remains unpopular.

Lotta Hart: Mimi viewed what little she saw of Lotta’s behavior as obnoxious and a bit irritating. She figured that Lotta’s pictures of “Maya” would help to make Maya look suspicious, and like Maya Mimi came to view Lotta as another tool to helping her escape the trouble she was in. Due to this she never thought of Lotta as an enemy and thought of her at the time of trial as some “unexpected help.”

CHARACTER

[General personality:] Mimi is often cynical and sarcastic, but she’s not truly mean-spirited. She is craftier than she appears and generally keeps to herself although it’s not impossible for her to get along with others. She does have quite the temper when pushed far enough, and once she is, heaven help anyone in her way! She is a huge fan of racecar driving and cars in general, and enjoys discussing anything related to them with people who share her interests. Baseball and hockey are two more sports she enjoys watching. During her time as Ini, Mimi has grown to hate anything remotely related to the occult, including the tamest horror movies. The mere mention of spirits, channeling and so forth puts her in a foul mood. Though she’s comfortable with being single and uninvolved, she turns her head at the mention of any new male inmates-hey, if nothing else, with luck they’ll be nice to look at if not fun to talk to.

Mimi has always struggled to hide a sense of vulnerability she discovered she had when she realized she did not share the same interests and traits that so many girls around her, including her little sister, did. As such, she tends to try to keep most people at arm’s length feeling that they probably won’t be able to understand her and might detect her sensitive side. Much of her life has been spent fighting an uphill battle to gain the approval of her mother (that seemed to come easy to her feminine sister Ini) while still attempting to enjoy who she is as a person. Mimi has been somewhat of a rebellious tomboy since childhood. She became interested in cars and machinery when her father used to take her to automobile display shows and fix up his own cars while she played nearby and watched. As she grew older, she began watching races on television and wanted to learn all she could about the sport. Her childhood dream was to drive professionally in NASCAR or at the very least a slightly smaller but still famous racing division.

In prison, Mimi enjoys her time alone, although she keeps her wits about her. She is not particularly sympathetic towards any of the other inmates yet (with one or two exceptions, such as Lauren Paups after hearing gossip about what happened to her father), but she doesn’t go looking for fights. She will defend her personal territory if anyone attempts to invade it, and makes sure everyone around her knows this. She has begun speaking to the prison psychologist since she still suffers from on-and-off night terrors and nightmares about everything that’s happened to her. For fun, she still enjoys watching racing on television whenever she can and uses the Internet to keep up with what’s going on in the automobile industry. Mimi has also grown fond of doing her own laundry as it reminds her of home, as well as simpler days when she and Ini were younger when their mother spent more time with them.

[Appearance:] Since arriving in prison, Mimi’s pale brown hair has begun reappearing as it grows while the red has slowly been fading (although it is still the dominant color). She continues to wear baggy clothes such as sweaters as she cares more about what’s comfortable rather than what looks pretty, but she does do what she can to keep up her appearance (though looking in the mirror these days isn’t a favorite pastime due to always seeing Ini staring back at her).

[Background:] Mimi’s love for automobiles, racing and machinery came from her father, which became an important symbol of how close they were. It became Mimi’s pastime as well as a haven for whenever she disappointed her mother, who Mimi began to feel would never be satisfied with anything Mimi did: Mimi wanted to become a professional racer someday, but her mother never approved, saying such a dream was silly and dangerous and that Mimi was “too lazy and unmotivated.” Growing up into a bit of an adrenaline junkie, Mimi got her driver’s license as soon as she could. Unfortunately, it was not long before she had her first accident, which thankfully she walked away from with only a bump and a broken arm. It was enough of a scare though to remind Mimi that her hobby came with its dangers. Not wanting to give up her love for cars and racing, she learned from the experience and promised herself she’d never forget how risky her hobby could be: she decided that she needed to start being more careful. She eventually decided that becoming a nurse would help her to stay diligent while also satisfying her mother’s desire for her daughter “to get real job with decent pay that has much less of a chance of killing her.”

After volunteering for a few years and continuing her studies, Mimi finally picked up a job in Grey's Surgical Clinic. At first, she was nearly ecstatic. But as Dr. Grey continually pushed her harder and harder at work, the stress began to affect her mood. She distracted herself by putting her hard-earned money towards a bright red sports car from the U.K. she’d been eyeing for ages. However, the stress from her job and this decision of what to do with her funds began to affect her relationship with her family (and few friends), particularly her shaky relationship with her mother as well as Ini who didn't like seeing her sister so upset even though they weren’t the closest of siblings. Focusing on her personal desires, Mimi began to become careless, and a combination of this along with her work-related stress led to her own malpractice incident which cost fourteen people their lives. Overcome with guilt, Mimi could hardly function for weeks, and began wishing with all of her heart that it would turn out that what happened wasn’t her fault. But things only got worse: Mimi was investigated nearly every day at home and at work, she saw less and less support from her friends, and living under her parents’ roof was becoming unbearable. Mimi became angrier and angrier and got into frequent fights with nearly everyone in her life that remained.

One particularly bad night (following a day where Mimi had finally snapped and slapped her mother during another fight), her father called asking her to pick up Ini and drive her home since she'd missed her bus. Too tired to argue with him, Mimi didn't object, which inevitably lead to the accident. Worse, only minutes before the crash, Mimi had snapped at Ini for trying to reason with her about the problems with their parents. Not only did Mimi feel crushing guilt over costing her sister her life and having their last conversation consist of heated words, she could never forgive herself for being so careless when she'd thought she'd learned to be so careful the first time she had an accident. In fact, she could never admit it to herself, and convinced herself that Turner Grey was truly the one responsible for all of her misery. In excruciating emotional and physical pain and knowing her mother would never forgive her for what had happened to Ini, Mimi chose to erase her identity in a desperate attempt to escape her own insanity-it worked, though to this day she still becomes nervous around open flames.

In the aftermath, Mimi had to force herself to walk, talk and speak like Ini-to become her sister in every way, and lose herself in the process. She also had to suffer through a very long recovery and through her family’s loss of “Mimi,” which she thought at times was even worse than the accident itself: even though she received the love from her mother she’d always wanted, she had to watch her parents both slip into a long depression while blaming themselves for “Mimi’s” death. On top of everything, she had to return to see Turner Grey as he had become Ini’s own doctor prior to the accident, which soon led to Mimi becoming ensnared in an unforeseen trap and having no choice but to finally kill Turner Grey in order to keep “Mimi” gone forever-something that at her core she didn’t desire, but had no choice but to do in order to keep living a lie that had given her a great deal more love and acceptance than she’d ever had while she was “alive.” While Mimi is (rarely) visited by her father in jail, she and her mother have since stopped speaking to each other. This hurts Mimi a great deal more than she lets on.

SAMPLE POST

I guess it’s been a while since I’ve updated, but there hasn’t been all that much to talk about. I’ve finally stopped sleeping with a pillow over my head so I don’t hear the cars outside my cell window at night. It still ticks me off, but there’s nothing I can do about it. Wright said I lost my face and my sister, but he should have mentioned that I lost my car as well. My very, VERY expensive and beautiful car that I had worked my ass off to save up for. Whatever--I guess I can say I’ve been doing better. My own hair color is returning, and my cheeks don’t hurt anymore. I got so tired of wearing that obnoxious smile all the time (I did like the shade of lipstick Ini used to use though). My fingernails are still pretty sharp though most of the pink color has flaked off. At least I have a makeshift weapon in case any of the old guys in this dump decide to get a little too “friendly,” right? I do kind of wish I still had at least a bit of my makeup though. I really used to hate the stuff, but I could use some moisturizer or lotion or something. The air’s so dry around here, and the soap we’re given is so cheap. Maybe I’ll look up what we’re allowed to have in here again and ask Dad to bring me something next time he can sneak out of the house long enough to see me.

I wonder what happened to that old hag Fey? I haven’t seen her around yet. I hope I don’t: I never want to see her again. Hell, if she’d only gotten her stupid kid out of the house for a few hours, I wouldn’t have screwed up my own testimony. Another mother off in her own world and paying no mind to her children, what a surprise. Funny considering she wanted her niece out of the way so that her brat could be top dog in Medium Valley, isn’t it? I said once that becoming Ini was the worst experience of my life, but having to talk out a consistent story with that woman wasn’t much of a picnic either.

Things for the most part are boring. Everyone else keeps hogging the television so I haven’t gotten to watch as many races as I normally do. The Internet here is restricted but I can still look at some of my Car Chat boards, thank God. Not interested in talking to many of the women around here, although I do listen in on whatever the buzz is. Can't hurt.

Oh yeah. We’ve gotten a few new arrivals but I haven’t seen much of them yet. Maybe a few of them will start some fights and I can finally see a good show for a change. I heard the name “Edgeworth” floating around, whoever that is. In a few days we’re supposed to have a hamburger or fried chicken night, so I guess that’s something to look forward too. Kind of pathetic, but I take what I can get. By the way Patricia, let me know how your hospital transfer goes if you’re reading this. I wouldn’t mind a phone call.

app, mimi miney
