It wasn't until the second read-through that I realized the demon's name was Library backwards and therefore why Yrarbils are so weak without their koobs.
As far as the challenge, I got Dewey and cross-referencing first time through. Dog-eared took me a while to find. I have a suspicion that Galdafrutche is significant, but I can't figure out what it means.
Thanks for both the story and the puzzle. I had fun.

1. Yraril = Library
2. Koob = Book
3. Dewey = Dewey decimal system
4. Doggerd = Dog-eared (full credit to Anyjay.)
5. Finnesdew = Fines Due (thanks to Chevron's last hint.)
Like Giles, not finding the answers really bugged me.

Also, an Honorable Mention goes to _il_mio_capitano_.
I'll be posting the complete results under the "Author's Notes" post following the story, as noted before.
(PS: I know its just a typo, but for anyone else who might be looking, #1 is Yrarbil = Library)
Thanks again for playing!

Thanks so much for writing a prompt I simply could not walk away from (like Giles and the mysterious package)!
Best,
