Nostalgia.

Nostalgia is bad. Nostalgia gets you down, makes you stiff. Makes you lax about the future. Yet, sometimes, on those rare occassions when we are on the rocks and we give into nostalgia's pull, I think we realize that we are confronted with who we were. Yes, you see how much you miss about the past, but you also see how much you've changed

I think connecting with people is an effort on its own and you should be commended for trying. Nostalgia is not a bad thing. It reminds you of the good times and makes you want to recreate it. It's a motivation if you let it be. It's not about the medium but about the intention, so it's not nostalgia that is bad but how you let it affect you that makes the biggest difference.
