I love having Monday off

To celebrate, here is not the Labor Day Mix, but the Anti-Twee mix. Part One. There are two words in musicland that make me go into spasms of revulsion--EMO and TWEE.

PSA: I have strong opinions on music, sometimes. Unreasonably so, you might think. *g*

Your breath was courage laced with alcohol )

no twee no emo, music mix

The theme of a Labor Day mix is too narrow anyway...

Goodness knows you won't get any grief from me.

But strange how a couple of years can alter your taste.
Such a mystery! I like to think that with age comes [some] wisdom, as the old adage goes.

Looking forward to listening, as usual. :) Thanks!

Saw your Watchmen picture post... Didn't realize you were so stereotypically male when it came to comic book stuff. For some reason, I thought you weren't really into comic-to-movie things. Anyway, the point of that being that I thought the girl playing Silk Spectre II looked familiar. You probably haven't seen 27 Dresses, though. ;)

I thought I would get some grief from you for the twee stuff. Belle and Sebastian is one of those bands that is very twee-sounding. ;-)

What? The Watchmen is one of the most highly rated graphic novels in terms of complexity and storytelling. You should read it some time, if you haven't yet. No, I haven't seen 27 dresses. Chick flick. Was she in it? I don't think I've seen her in anything before.

Hope you enjoy the mix!

Yeah, but I'm picky enough that I don't have any room to talk. You're entitled to your own opinion. ;)

I have never actually touched a comic...ever. It's weird, but when Ironman was set to come out, my brother said he wanted to see it and started telling me some about it. I was surprised then, too, that he had this hidden (to me) knowledge of comics. I think it's mostly a guy thing... You all don't ever seem to talk about them around us.

Yes, 27 Dresses was a chick flick, and it was hilarious. I don't usually go for that sort of movie (a friend thought it hilarious that my idea of a chick flick was Mansfield Park, which for the record is one of Austin's darker novels and deals with some heavier issues...I know you're well read....but....Jane Austen, is she really your thing?), but since I've BEEN there before (maid of honor twice and in three other weddings besides, sung in another, etc.) I was required to see it. She's the sister of the main girl, the sister who basically steals the girl's long-time crush away. You probably ( ... )

Damn straight!

Really? Not even batman or Superman as a kid?

I wouldn't claim Austen as someone I'd read over and over. But I liked P&P and Persuasion. I don't think I finished Mansfield Park. I've seen most of the movie adaptations, though. My sister considers them as comfort movies, and has every Mansfield Park, P&P production known to man.

That one's hard to beat. I saw the trailers for the new movie and was not inspired to watch it.

Sometimes I love you (platonically) and sometimes I'm convinced you're EVIL! Okay, so not that bad, but you go and post something like your most recent entry and then make it impossible for me to leave a comment on your music choice. *sigh* Basically, I just wanted to say something like, "Yay! You're listening to Lovedrug. I pulled them out recently, too." Whatever.

By the way, I did want to give you some feedback on this mix. Blind Pilot's "The Story I Heard" seems to be a good example of the sort of sound I've really, really been into lately, so this tickled me pink. I'm going to have to agree with your Department of Eagles assessment (though this is the only song I've heard). Very interesting...that's the only description I can manage because it's just too good. "Revolver" was a really nice arrangement as well.

And...I should be working. XD

Hahaha.

About Lovedrug: I don't like them much. I mean, there's not much there to listen to again.

And...that Palin post was really just a way to bookmark that web page. *cackles evilly* I figured people must be tired of reading/hearing about her by now.

I listen to Department of Eagles at least once a day. I like their previous album, Cold Nose. But this one, In Ear Park, is just awesome. Still not tired of it yet. Blind Pilot has a very comforting sound, for want of a better description.

Glad you're enjoying the mix!

I've found that some songs I really like, and then the other half of the album goes in one ear and out the other. But, you know me, I can't help but get excited about the good half. *sheepish grin* I think it also helps that I've seen them live. They're really more live performers than studio artists.

Someone on my flist made an icon like this because they got tired of all the political talk...everywhere... This is a less fuzzy version. Hurray for Full Metal Alchemist (which is really an excellent anime).

I've been making this huge list of bands for a while now, to find new albums and old ones I don't already have and so on. They're on it now. :)
