 So, Chris and I were both off this morning.  We went to the mall and then were driving to Smokey Bones to eat lunch.  We were driving on John Young and had to turn left onto Sandlake.  Ok.  So you know when the cars back up just to the end of the turn lane so you can't get in it?  So instead of waiting there and missing the turn light, you go

Chris can fight that. He didn't technically drive in the lane, it's the equivalent of accidentally running off the road.

And Officer Powertrip just wanted to lord over some people, and you guys were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

How can we fight it? Just go to the court date? It really is the absolute most ridiculous thing ever.

And I went to the Flordia State Statute website and the section about this...really, the way I'm reading it doesn't really apply for this situation at all!

This cop was just a total jerk. I told Chris to take it to court. He's just afraid that the judge will say....sorry. Too bad and now there isn't anything you can do about the points on your record.

But I took a ticket to court once and the judge really just said, pay the ticket. He didn't care about the points, just the money.

I don't know. I just think it's stupid to pay that much for something that was totally unfair and uncalled for.

All he has to do is go to the court date. Odds are that if Chris goes, with a full and well-spoken explanation, and a print out of the section you found, then the judge will rule in his favor. Even if the jerk of a cop shows up.If Chris is well prepared, then there isn't anything for the judge to do except rule in his favor... Just make sure he doesn't elaborate by adding ANYTHING at all, the judge can tell the truth from an elaboration.
