I've had progressives for maybe 7 years, had no problems with them, adjusted quickly, am not consciously rocking my head. If anything, I wish the variation between top-and-bottom (far-and-near) were stronger.
One of my migraine-triggers is anything eyesight- and glasses-related (improper prescription, smudges on lenses, frames slightly out-of-adjustment), so I'm pretty good about getting a new pair every two or at most three years. (I actually get a new prescription yearly, since I see the eye doctor that often, because I'm at high risk for macular degeneration.)
Oh, one other thought: my current and two-ago eyeglasses are/were transitions (photochromic), my backup eyeglasses were not-- they came with clip-on sunglasses that were easy to misplace and that quickly stopped staying on (they fit on indentations on the bottom of the frames-- how dumb is that?). It's really convenient to know, when stepping outside, that I will have sunglasses protection within about a minute or two (except when ( ... )
