The holiday was lots of fun, but not relaxing by any definition! We had to keep constantly busy and entertaining for Ethan, which involved lots of walking and swimming in the baking heat, but like I said, loads of fun. The food and booze was fit and all-inclusive (which we will *so* be doing from now on until he gets quite a bit older and will ( Read more... )

Wow, Ethan's all kinds of ginger isn't he?! Both him and you seem like you're having a lot of fun too :D I want to go scuba diving! I suppose learning to swim would be the first step but how hard can it be with huge great flippers on your feet?!

Very ging indeed!

Swimming isn't all that necessary! The flippers do make it a lot easier and you're not supposed to move your hands that much, the instructor kept having to hold my hands against my chest in the 2 sessions, because I automatically kept trying to do breaststroke when I was trying to get over stuff in the sea. When you do more fancy stuff maybe it's different, I don't know, but for the very basics like I did I had to keep my hands still.

Yeah, that's be ace!

Why might you be moving to Lymm?

We're going to be in Manchester on the 24th to go on a protest about the war and privatisation of the NHS as Gordon Brown is visiting. If by any chance you're going to that we could meet up for a brew or summat. I'm not sure if we'll have Ethan with us, we are planning in taking him in the pram, but we're going a bit earlier to help set up. I think if it rains a lot we won't take him with us, but if it's ok we will.

Hey! On the 24th lellie shall be residing in a field near glastonbury! :)

We're moving towards lymm/stockton heath/grappenhall because trem has a new job by stockton heath and I have a job by manchester airport - it's a nice area and between the two so it's gonna be somewhere along there.. to be fair when I start work I could probably pop in after work some point as it's only 20 mins away or something from work. :)

Oh I forgot about that! Have fun!

Where is it you'll be working? Did you find the job through one of those graduate schemes?

There'll be other opportunities for me to stalk you!

Ethan's hair seems to have grown an inch since I last saw you, but wasn't that only a few weeks ago? Damn babies and their growing.

They played with him, chased him, pinched himPinched him? did you get him back? Ho ho ( ... )

I found Fat is feminist issue really interesting, as I read it for my dissertation. Hunger Strike: The Anorectic's Struggle as a Metaphor for Our Age by Orbach is also quite interesting but focussing on anorexia. Though this one is a lot more about the media's affect on people and their body image.

I've a whole host of books on this - if you want a gander of some others :) I believe I still have your copy of Naomi Wolf's The Beauty Myth in fact (which I also re-read for my dissertation).

I'm finding it very helpful. I'm starting to wish we lived closer to a big city so I can join a women's group or something. I guess I could get the train into manchester, but between Ethan and essays I wouldn't have the time at the moment anyway.

I'd definitely like to take a look at some of your books, as I've chosen gender and sexuality as one of my electives for next year (chose it over mental health, substance abuse and a few others) and I'm definitely aiming for adult services now. I still have loads of your books and I need to replace your copy of 'Letters Home' because it was ruined in an accident on the boat. I remember telling you, but I still haven't bought another copy.

Are you in Macc any time over the summer? And when are you moving to London? I really would like to visit some time, I always say this! Money and babysitting permitting, I promise to come and stalk you before you complete your masters!

It's annoying isn't it? Like I said, the worst part is that I don't drink much anway, but having the choice taken away makes me mad! And that one drink in the bath or with a book after a crappy day is what I'll miss the most. Boo.
