I am getting to the point of zero tolerance for people who can't determine the difference between nudity and pornography, or sensuality and sexuality. Nudity is such a raw, beautiful, sacred thing. Why can't these people understand that? Is there something morally wrong about depicting a tasteful, realistic representation of the female body? Or the ( Read more... )

It's really quite simple:

Because the media, the music, our friends, and most everything else portrays nudity and sexuality so blatantly, we were never raised to accept it. Most people don't. They've never been exposed to sensuality in a romantic, raw, beautiful way; all they've ever seen is it demeaned, belittled, and subjected to low morality.

And...

People are afraid to embrace their sexuality; ergo, by insulting anything that is considered sensual or sexual keeps them from having to acknowledge it as having a large impact on their life.

That's my two cents anyways.

Hmmm...I do see your points, m'dear.

I think there is no in between, really....its just sexuality [which in itself is definitely not a bad thing, but is obviously completely different from sensuality, something that people aren't even aware of anymore], and either we're over-exposed to it like you said in its demeaned appearance....or we're hidden from it and it becomes completely illicit when we actually do catch a peek or see something. We're hidden from its real form, anyway.

Things have gone so awry in the last 35 years. Maybe I'm a Bohemian at heart, but things were so much more elegant and enlightened back then. We've gone from "making love", to "having sex", to "hooking up". Doesn't that sound so...impersonal? Blah.

I like your two pennies. You're so smart'ms!

speaking of which...

it's a question of sexual intent and artistic value, and some people are too immature or even insecure to discern between the two.

Hopefully, even in my baptist controlled city, the school board will have the balls to stand by its employees and morals.

That's completely disturbing...I absolutely ADORE Sally Mann. She's amazing and captures so much affection, tenderness and grace in her photography... one of my favorite photographers. Ever.

I hope so, I've seen that PBS program and think it's utterly amazing. I really hope that no one is disadvantaged by this one immature father stuck behind his own childlike perceptions. GACK!

*flips through her art n photography books to look at some photos now* XD

Yes, nudity can be such a beautiful artform. Porn really isn't art at all. It's sex not "making Love"...making love is beautiful.....anywho..I agree with you all 100%!

Chibi-
I think you may know where I stand on this. Your thoughts are so clear and precise on the topic of Nudity and Pornography. Like so many have issues with the difference between Pornography and erotic photography. The is a sensual nature involved with erotica that is seriously lacking within porn. Earlier in my youth I didn't see much of a difference, just cause I was horny all the time. But now I find much more enjoyment and satisfaction with vintage erotica and with Pre-Raphealite artists than the pages of Hustler and Club. You, in my opinion, are an artist. Having the ability to draw pictures doesn't make a person an artist, it is an additude and that special talent and passion that becomes part of the artwork that makes the person an artist. I have enjoyed your art and photography for many months now, so I know you have your head and mind in the right place. As far as the others that have issues distinguishing differences in art and porn, do they really matter? They are just there to keep things interesting for you, that's

I'm glad to hear that you share my point of view, m'dear. I wish more people could see it from our eyes, but it seems quite unlikely... perhaps that's what makes us so fricken special ( ... )
