The summer is always a good time to read, as I tend to ignore the necessities of grad school and read what I damn well feel like rather than what I am supposed to be reading, and I've gotten a lot of good reading done, the highlight perhaps being Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age, which does this wonderful blend of cyber- and steampunk, with ( Read more... )

Heheh… I wondered what all the noise was. I'd use the QSC if I could… There's no mixing board other than the Mackie head, and I'd need to rig a converter so we could get the binding posts on the QSC to be 1/4"… Which wouldn't be that hard, really. Especially if I could get a road case for the damn thing. With the dead horn in the one speaker, it sounds bad enough anyway. I'm getting kind of sick of using SM57s for vocals too. They only have 57s. No 58s, no Betas, no Senns… At least the area is small enough I don't have to worry about micing drums… The problem is I think I'm the only one in the whole building that actually has a clue about sound. I'm not even sure who to ask for new gear/repairs. If you're down during the week before mid-September, come by and I'll show you the rig. It'll make you laugh. And then cry. I know I did.
