Survivalism: First Try

I've been discovering the limitations of Hex's speakers the past few days whilst working on a remix of Nine Inch Nail's Survivalism. The multitrack data was posted on their website, so I thought I'd give it a go. I have been meaning to try out Garageband for a while, and this gave me an excellent excuse. the mostly vocal intro is cool, but drags on a little bit long for my personal preferences. when the driving bass drops out around 1:38 or so (and then again at 2:40), it feels a bit awkward (for lack of a better term).

other than that, it sounds pretty good to me. it probably helps that survivalism is my favorite track from the album at the moment.

i really like the way you brought the mix to a close though. very nice work.

Thanks! I do agree about the bass drop… I just haven't figured out what to put there yet. It's still a work in progress. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I'd really like to try my hand at a mix, but I'm so busy with other stuff that I'm not sure I'd ever get around to it. :-(
