D; That's the same one I have, and I can't get rid of it. I used spy-bot search and destroy, and it fixes it until the powerdown/up and then it's back. There's no easy way to get rid of it. :(

I downloaded something called f-vmonde.exe, and it takes care of it faster. But still, it's a temporary fix. :(

ALSO SYMANTIC SUCKS.

Yes Symantic sucks... WTF is the point of having an anti-virus if it doesn't protect you or actually remove viruses? Freakin grr... I'm sorry you has virus too.. I need to get this off though, and I dunno what else to try. There's got to be some trick to it... from what I've read it will always re-infest when you restart because parts of it are like attached to your startup files. I figure I can just use Vista to randomly delete XP system32 files... but that's probably not actually really good idea...

Probably need to do a fresh install of Windows...

I've actually seen these guys clear it out, but it takes a few days. I haven't had the actual time to try it, however.

I think the fix is just going to end up being "reinstall windows" and I can do that, it's just a pain and I don't have the disks with me. Though if he thinks he can remove the virus without reinstalling, let me know. I'll give Chris the first go at it... if Chris can't do it, I dunno if Sean will be able to though...

Is there a way to reinstall windows without having to completely restart the thing?

I'm not really sure... you usually pop in the install disks, and while it's starting up, you hit the f2 button or something like that and it boots from the CD.... yeah... dunno...

Here's how you fix it.

Step 1: Buy a Mac.

or?

Step 1: Install Linux/Ubuntu/Gnome...

Actually! I managed to get rid of it!

Macs may be safer, but using one drives me crazy... with their one button mouses and shit. I don't like Macs, they crash on me all the time, way more often than Windows does... and they are not intuitive to use at all.
