Putting my money where my mouth is

I kept meaning to post this. It's nice to be able to keep up-to-date on One Piece and Naruto, now that there's a legal way to do so. =D Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha! It's less than $30 for a full year subscription, and it's only 2 1/2 weeks behind the Japanese release. http://www.vizmanga.com/

Your comment intrigues us. What kind of issues do you have? Are they with the Viz releases, or with scans?

Interesting. Have you read the Viz translation of the manga?

1) We heard a story from the Viz translator of Naruto about how the fanbook counted all the times Naruto said -dattebayo, so when they translated it, they had trouble because they just left it out of the English translation.

2) It's common practice in manga translation these days (even for the American companies, not just with fan translations) to leave the name suffixes as-is. Even in the English dub of Ponyo, you'll hear characters saying -san. Not sure what they did for the Naruto manga, though.

3) That all just depends on the translator.

4) ...We got nothing on that one, since we haven't read or seen enough of either version of Naruto.
