Warped Tour 2010 - Pomona, CA

Aug 11, 2010 22:09

Well. Today was even better than Carson’s date, if at all possible. I didn’t think it was, haha.

Lauren and I got there pretty damn early, honestly. Around 8:40, and the parking lot didn’t even open until 9. While we sat there, there were some dudebros in a pick-up and this random-ass little car who got out and partied in the back of the truck.

And once they let us in, we got to the line and were accosted by bands. I’m not even joking. We were soft-hearted and helped out two of them, but they were actually legitimately good.

Getting inside was a clusterfuck, but we managed it, and we got roped into a game by the Truth truck. Lauren and I ended up winning the game, and we got free shirts. It’s a cute tank to. :D

The Cab was our first band, at 2:15, so we had a few hours to kill. Lauren got a shirt that said “What happened to my life?” and I got new sunglasses. Ray-Bans black matte rip-off with mirrored lenses. They’re kinda great. We also met this one guy at the Free Clothing tent, and he was really hot. Uh, I had a point here…

Anyway. The Cab. We were maybe… one person from the barrier for the Cab, and I don’t know what’s up with them, but THEY WERE SO GOOD. Like, better than they usually were, which is pretty damn hard to top.

The set list is as goes: Risky Business, Take My Hand, Locked Up, One of Those Nights (ft. Brian Dales), That 70’s Song, I’ll Run, and Bounce.

Singer came into the crowd and was generally beautiful and holy shit, his eyes and that smile. Joey’s hair has lightened up a lot, and Johnson has gone blonde. I can’t even anymore, but the Cab will always have a special place in my heart. <3____<3

After the Cab was the Rocket Summer, and I was at the barrier for that. Lauren was right behind me. It was amazing. Bryce is still awesome and amazing and Brat Pack will never fail to make me want to cry.

Set list: Hills and Valleys, Do You Feel I Need a Break, But I’d Rather Have a Breakdown, Break It Out, Brat Pack, So Much Love, So In This Hour.

Bryce FUCKING CROWDSURFED. HE PUT HIS GUITAR DOWN AND WAS LIKE EVERYONE PUT YOUR HANDS UP! And then he JUMPED INTO THE CROWD. I CAN’T EVEN. IT LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE GOING TO CARRY HIM AWAY FOR A MOMENT.

So, after TRS, Lauren managed to squeeze in next to me at the barrier, just in time for us to hear The Summer Set from the next stage over. They were so cute, and their crowd looked so happy to be there. Lauren and I partied at the barrier, and confused the hell out of the security guy.

Security: Should you two be over there?
Us: No, we want to see Anarbor more.
Security: …well, all right then…

I don’t remember much of the set, but it was good, I’ll give them that. And I have more to say about TSS later.

Anarbor… what words could describe them? FUCKING AMAZING is more like it. The crowd was really energetic and into it, and then I got my nose bashed into the barrier by a crowdsurfer and blood trickled down my throat for the rest of the set. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT.

Set list: Gypsy Woman, The Brightest Green, Passion for Publication, Drugstore Diet, You and I, Mr. Big Shot, Always Dirty Never Clean, Let the Games Begin

Slade, I think, got kinda scared of us. He was telling us to like, try and get to the front, to try and touch him, pretty much, and people just surged forward. He very clearly mouthed “shit” and stepped back.

After that set, Lauren and I took a break (and I tried to figure out how to stop bleeding) before we decided what to do next. Anarbor was doing a signing at 6, and in my condition, and I wasn’t up for seeing Hey Monday at 5:35, so we went to the signing.

Or tried to. It was postponed to 6:30 because Breathe Carolina started late, and their line WAS SO LONG OH MY GOD. We ended up going to see the Summer Set play an acoustic set before checking with the signing. Still way too long.

Lauren and I stood there and watched fans freak out before we decided that maybe going to see Hey Monday was a good idea.

We sat down in the shade in front of Anarbor’s tent to listen. The band’s still great. I really don’t give a fuck about what people say about them; they may not be unique, but they still kick ass in a cute, fun way.

So, Lauren and I went back to the signing, found the end of the Anarbor line, and waited for a little while. The band showed up, and Lauren and I… ended up not going.

The story begins with the fact that we listened to Going to Jail in the morning on the way to Warped. And then the chorus got stuck in our heads. All. Fucking. Day. Long. And of course, Anarbor didn’t play it today, lol.

When the band appeared next to the line for the signing, we ducked out mostly because we only had one thing to ask Slade, and that was it. No pictures, no signings, nothing. We just wanted him to sing one line from Going to Jail, because it had been stuck in our heads all fucking day. And it still is, actually.

Anyway. He did sing the one line (very reluctantly and after much convincing), and our Warped Tour experience was complete.

So. Fucking. Great.

On the way out, we got accosted by three bands (one of which we’d met), and this one dude selling water. We got into a brief discussion about the guy that died at Warped.

AND THEN. We were at the car, Lauren was trying to unlock it, and then we hear these knocks. We look around, and there are these two guys in a van. A mini-van. We turn away, they knock again, and duck when we look at them. And then as Lauren was backing out, they started honking at us. I THINK THEY WERE TRYING TO GET US TO SEE WHAT’S UP/HOOK UP WITH THEM. FUCK NO.

Anyway. I’m tired as fuck now so I will not write any more.
