(no subject)
So I know it's awfully early and I've always been a big advocate of not celebrating/decorating for a holiday no earlier than a month before...but I currently find myself absolutely itching to start decorating, baking, and living up Halloween!!!
Even now I find myself sitting on my bed with Scooby Doo on Zombie Island popped in the DVD player, a magazine with spooky recipes and decorating ideas to my side and a small bag of Halloween décor on the table that I just bought today!......YIKES! …..I’m breaking my own rules!!
But I can’t help it!!!
I find myself daydreaming about throwing a lavish Halloween Party and that to put on such a shindig I’d need to start planning now, if not sooner!
However I don’t have the money nor space to accomplish such a feet. Maybe a small party, but nothing that’d require two months of planning/shopping! XD
To also hinder my Halloween haunt of a party Eric and I are working on cosplay for Youmacon, which so happens to be over Halloween weekend >_> So nothing could be held then and our spare time will probably be spent working on that.
Even if we did manage to find the time to plan and prepare we also have a friend who throws a Halloween party every year. Usually his is over Halloween weekend, which we missed last year because of Youmacon. We are going to ask if he could possibly throw it the weekend before so we could go to both, but really, that’s really selfish of us, asking him to move his party so we could be benefited.
Buuuut….if he does throw his over Halloween weekend, then that frees up the weekend before!! I’d be stoked to throw a small party then!
Overall though, party or not, I just can’t wait to start decorating!!!! But, like always, I refuse to do that until a month before Halloween. …..Although that doesn’t mean I can’t start buying decorations now!!!!!
Decorations on a budget that is. Mustn’t forget about my school loans I have to start paying back ~_~
Today I got some décor items from Dollar Tree and I’m planning on going to the Thrift Store for some spooky items.
This year I want to theme our place with a gothic mansion type feel. Not a lot of over-the-top store bought décor, but lots of actually household items that are older/look older. Black, rusted, ancient looking stuff.
We’ll see how well that comes into play!
OH! And when it comes to Halloween Treats…I have lots in mind!!
Like “Candy Corn Pizza” - A sauceless pizza cut into triangles with strips of American, Cheddar, and Provolone cheese to give the color/look of the actual candy.
Or “Monster of a Cake” - A muliti layer cake of chocolate and green colored white cake, a layer of pistachio pudding in between, all coated with a chocolate ganache icing with chopped pistachios spread over the bottom half of the cake…..can we say, YUM!!!
I even have a few drinks in mind!!
Such as the “Jack-o’-Lantern” - Start with a cocktail glass rimmed with green sugar. The drink itself has orange juice, orange soda, orange liqueur, spiced rum….and garnished with a then slice of orange to float on top with a green colored sliver of an almond….the whole effect really makes it look like a pumpkin. Very Halloweeny!
Well, I suppose that’s enough Halloween talk for now, I really should try to calm down and hold back my decorating urges. But you can expect lots of Halloween related posts come the first of October!!! LOL!
