Induction charging is still an up-and-coming technology, in consumer electronics, and is still rather inefficient. It wastes a lot of energy, compared to a wired connection. As well, if you lift the item more than a fraction of an inch, it stops charging - making it even less flexible than when attached to a modest-length cord. Its one biggest advantage, at present, is that you don't need a direct coupling with exposed electrical-leads, which is great for items like electric toothbrushes and all-weather equipment that could short out if water touches the leads.
