I have so many cavities, and I have no $ to get them filled. My dental plan doesn't kick in til January and I have a 3 month waiting period on it for fillings. So, no work can be done til April. Ugh!
I consider myself lucky to have been free of cavities for 32 years... Too bad I get hit in the face a lot. I have several crowns, and one fell out quite a while back. Funny thing is, I think I look better without it. And, by "better," I mean "scarier" in a Mark Messier kinda way.
Being an bit of a hygiene aficionado (a pretty way of saying I'm mildly O.C.D.), I can vouch for the effectiveness of the current generation of sonic toothbrushes. They obliterate plaque quickly, and in all of the tiny gaps and divots. They're also finally starting to become a good value. The $5~$20 Oral-B brushes aren't as powerful as the Philips or Sonicare, but do perform better than most manual brushing. The $30 ~ $60 ones seem to be a huge leap forward, so they might be worth saving up for (thank goodness for Bed Bath & Beyond 20% coupons).
Most likely its actually a filling fell out or something. One can hope. The cavities I've gotten haven't actually been black, but who knows. Lots of luck!

I hope they don't worsen in the meantime. =(
