So it's been a pretty stressy shitty week.
This is mostly done at work, so it may get a little lengthy, rantie, or include more information than I need to...hence, the cuts, for huge lumps of text.
Last Saturday (9/29) I had my first shift at
JoAnn. It was eventful, actually. I don't have the manager position yet, but Patti, my manager, told me to ask her again in a few weeks, just to make sure I could handle the extra work I'm just throwing myself into. And to be perfectly honest, I'm grateful for that. She told me to ask her about it again in a few weeks.
I found that I hadn't forgotten much of anything, except that they were using the old hand-held computers, so I had to remember where the right buttons were. And the register, which I thought was going to be the most formidable thing, was actually the exact same system as the Northway Mall store...just the keypad on the left register is UPSIDE-DOWN...wtf?
Patti set me almost straightaway to the task of setting merchandise, flat-out telling me that she didn't think the other girl working would be able to handle it or get it done in a timely manner. I told her about the overnight shifts I'd done, and got right to it. Unpacked and put all the trims in order, hung all the tassles, and rearranged it so everything would fit in about three hours. She walked by when I was almost finished, and apparently hadn't expected me to get through all four boxes before the end of my shift XD she was visibly impressed. I totally have that manager position, as soon as I ask for it again, which will probably be in November, after Sammy's baptism. After then, I will actually be able to give her both days of every weekend.
The drive home Saturday night...that's when things started getting
horrible. Actually, I think it started with something that happened Thursday night. I was taking the back way home from work, at a stoplight, when this woman rear-ends me. We pull off to the side of the road, and I look at my car. Nothing. No paint, no damage that I can see. The front of her van looked a little dented, but that was about it. She comes up to me and says that I stopped short. =o.o=; Now, again, I was at a STOPLIGHT! I wasn't fully stopped, thank god, but she should have at LEAST been slowing enough that it would have only been a tap, if anything. I was still in a bit of a state of shock, so I didn't say anything to that, just let her write down my information, and gave her my notebook to write hers. The whole time she's going on about getting her car looked at, getting an estimate, and she'll call me, because there's no need to bring our insurance companies into this, we can "take care of it between us". She was right quick about driving away after she gave me back my notebook...which I saw she had only written her phone number in, after taking ALL of my insurance info. Luckily, I still haven't heard from her, and I hope I won't, because if she expects me to help her pay to fix her car, especially since she didn't even give me half of her own information, then I will tell her to shove it, and to make an insurance claim. Then I will laugh, thinking of her just TRYING to get my insurance to pay when it was HER fault to begin with (by my word and New York State law, if not by her own admission).
So anyway, Saturday night I'm driving home from JoAnn, and I hear a rattling, a grinding, and then a thunk. First thought: "Ho'shit! Not again!" Thinking it was going out the same way my last one did, despite the fact that I've been taking care of it. Luckily, I just hear a dragging as I'm still moving. I probably went a little farther than I should have, but I wanted to be somewhere OFF the road, and the nearest was where Cohoes-Crescent meets Rt9. I look, and my muffler is dragging. Still attatched, just the pipe sitting on the ground. So I call Jeff, and he comes to rescue me with some twine. <3 He asked me to call his parents, but they weren't home, so I set my cell phone down next to the twine...on the trunk of my car. Needless to say, I didn't remember either of them before I drove off. Actually, I didn't remember either until we were both home, and I went to pick it up. I had Jeff call it from inside the house, but nothing. He went back out to get soda, and drove back up the road to look for it. I kept calling it, but all he could find was the twine. Later, Rob came by to drop off Jeff's cards, since I had called him away from the tournament, and he took me out with his cell phone, and I literally walked about 3/4 the length of the road, continuosly dialing my cell phone and listening for the ringer. I absolutely did not hear it, did not see it light up, that thing is GONE.
SO! I do not have a cell phone now, for those of you who want to contact me, you'll just have to use my home number...which most of you don't have yet =x_x= I'll FO it. But, I just ordered
one of these for about thirty bucks (retails around $216) :D I should have that in a few weeks, and I'll still have my same phone number, so don't bother changing anything in your address books (...unless you don't have my new home muber yet...you can change that)
And now I'm at work...on a BANK HOLIDAY. Luckily, it's only a half day, plus eight hours, plus time and a half, so I'm getting a lot for being here. And it's absolutely dead, so I'm getting a lot for almost nothing. I'm still going to complain though, because I could be at home, in bed, snuggling my Jeff =T T= *pout*
