Jury Duty

Well i'm off now to walk to the courthouse downtown, (since my mother has my car in Sac) and report for my first jury duty. Technically i've been called three times since i turned 18, but once was for Sacramento when i was no longer living there, and once was right in the middle of my Senior Seminar, so i couldn't take two weeks or so for that then ( Read more... )

Good luck on that. Santa Clara County tried to get me on jury duty for years while I was in school. When they finally did get me in, I wasn't even brought up for selection consideration.

Have fun, and enjoy a day of getting paid to just sit around and do nothing. :)

Jury duty was an interesting experience for me. I dont think i wrote about it much in any blog (it was april last year; a quick look back shows i mentioned i finished reading a book i was reading during Duty, though i didnt mention having Duty. :P). Most people there were unhappy, bored, anxious, and generally displeased at having to leave their jobs to do their civic duty -- i found that other than the ambient atmosphere and having to wake up before seven AM it was pleasing to be there. However, i was cast out (for reasons i never knew) and didn't actually have to be a juror. took them four days to figure that out ( ... )
