Short report on Anime North

I mean if I was new to Anime North, I'd probably find it loads of fun so I hope I don't discourage anyone from going cuz I think it's good for new congoers, or hardcore anime fans.. but I'm just not a hardcore anime fan anymore. After the 2nd or 3rd time unless there is a specific guest or panel to go to, a convention hasn't much new to offer. It used to be one of the few places for people, in my opinion, to share their videos, see new anime, and buy this or that. But now AMVs you can share on the web, there are forums and communities, and online dealers, and translated official or fansubbed anime, is more easily obtained in a world of DSL and broadband. Actually, I never was a big fan of the video rooms; I prefer to huddle with a pizza and 2 liter bottle of coke in the hotel room with friends. The seating is usually more comfy and there's a bathroom. That being said, it's the people you meet or go with that make it worthwhile.

However, maybe you'd consider volunteering next time? I did that at two local cons, and it gave the experience a different feel. Also doesn't hurt when they pay for your registration and give you goodies.

I haven't gone to AN in awhile. After awhile, it was basically just paying entrance fee for me to go buy a lot of crap. =P I always did like to buy art from people though.
