I think a good teacher will not tell you what to do- or tell you what is right, but get/allow you to come to that conclusion by asking you questions. I always found this to be a manipulative tactic, and found it especially surprising to be something that I have learned in various teaching and facilitating classes, but manipulative or not- if you can get the "learner" to come to their own conclusion by asking questions, then they are more likely to learn.

although, of course, facilitated learning is generally a means of tricking someone into thinking they've come to their own conclusion while knowing that you've directed them in that way - it's probably better for cognitive development but it's only "free" insomuch as i am free to decide what kind of sauce to buy when i go shopping. i go to the store and move directly to the aisle i'm told to go to, pick from the offerrings, don't ever ACTUALLY find the sauce i'm looking for, and pay what the store demands. come to think of it, fuck grocery stores. i'm going out for lunch.
