Sleep, and its constituents (well...some)

I think I've found some strange loophole in my sleep system. Over the past 3 months there have been numerous occasions where I have only gained 4-5 hours of sleep (today, for example) and have required a coffee to become functional (and get over sleep inertia). See, I always thought that was kind of strange. Apparently 7-8 hours is normal for adults, 9-10 for children-young teenagers. Perhaps the quality of your sleep is lacking. Or maybe its just the habit of a lengthy slumber. Hmm....

So can you handle 4-5 hours of sleep and/or have you experimented with coffee to see what the sleep/caffeine divide can achieve? You can be my own little case study, Mr.Emil. So, what is your preferred sleeping position? And how fragmented is a normal night of sleep (ie no. of awakenings per night)?
