...but is Drew Carey really the right personality to take over The Price is Right? I just don't see him as a game-show host, especially for such an iconic show. Then again, it's not like anyone could really fill Bob Barker's spot, so maybe change isn't bad, it's just...change ( Read more... )

Honestly, with how many AWFUL names were flying around for the new host spot, Drew Carey is relieving to see. Sure, he won't be up to the standard Barker set, but... realistically? NOBODY can truly replace Bob Barker. At least this doesn't feel like the network is trying to replace him with a clone, and I'm looking forward to see what direction the show is going to go in.

Look at it this way: hey, at least it's not Ryan Seacrest. :P

I think he's a surprising choice, but I did like him on Whose Line?, so it could work.

But he's filling some enormous goddamn shoes. Bob Barker was The Price Is Right. Time will tell how Carey'll handle the show.

You and I are watching this first show together, as I think the new season of TPIR starts in early-mid September... oh, and if you think you're going to class that day from 11-12, you're gravely fucking mistaken :P

As for Drew Carey, my first reaction was, "Oh shit...," but then I realized that anyone's name that wasn't "Bob Barker" would make me have that reaction. I've grown into it a little bit, and think it's a step-up over most of the other names I heard thrown around (though I myself was a large proponent of Mario Lopez... yes, Slater from "Saved by the Bell." I wish I was joking).
