My friend Mike once told me that youre only really in love with someone when you can fart infront of them and not be worried about their reaction afterwards.

this has been bothering me lately, and so im just wondering...

how do you know if youre really in love with someone?

well cate, considering that i, personally and probably most of the sane world does not feel comfortable farting around ANYONE, much less their true love, i think this mike-person's advice sucks. Well, ok, i take it back- it's half true. Being in love means that you trust them; that you can feel comfortable being yourself around them, and having them around you almost improves you as a person. True love is not about "desperately needing" that person. You should both be complete and independent without eachother, yet having one another makes both people in the relationship complete. It's not about infatuation or "i need you to survive" mentality, it's about " i love you for who you are and how you make me feel- i WANt to love you". is this making any sense?

There is no such thing as love, only the need to belong to someone and feel important and a trickery of hormones. Love doesn't exist anywhere in nature, and the only reason that we think it does is because we are far superior [logically] to all other beings. Our thinking level and IQ are both wayy wayyy superior, therefore allowing us to come across the concept of love.
