I've never been the biggest fan of A Chorus Line, but I think that might be because I've only seen the movie. (Which, my parents have told me again and again, does not do justice to the play.) The doc sounds good though. Thanks for the recommendation.
Also, I've always had this secret fantasy of walking down the aisle to "One." Because I think it would be hilarious.
No, the movie does not do justice to the play. For one thing, they change two of the songs. Cassie's big monologue/song scene where she begs Zach to give her a job is different, and the song in the play is much much better. Also, they changed "Hello 12, Hello 13, Hello Love" in the movie, which I also don't understand because why mess with such a layered, angsty, perfect song? They also messed with the choreography. It's one of those movies that makes you go, "Why did they mess with it so much? It was fine the way it was on stage."
I mean, Nicole Fosse is in it, which is fun, and you know, Michael Douglas... but otherwise, see the play. If the tour comes to DC, try to go see it!
The doc is great, though, no matter what your opinion on A Chorus Line - if you're any kind of theater fan, it'll be inspiring.
